Supplied new to America as a Special Equipment model, chassis S814633DN subsequently relocated to Australia where, in 2010, it was extensively refurbished and upgraded. As well as being converted to right-hand drive, the 2+2-seater was fitted with an uprated cooling system, electric boot release, wider wheels shod with radial tyres, four-wheel disc brakes, five-speed manual transmission, power assisted steering and air-conditioning. Starting readily upon inspection, its twin SU carburettor-fed 3.4 litre DOHC XK engine allies a MKVII block to a MKI cylinder head. Feeling discernibly modern on a recent brief test drive with an impressive turn of speed, this handsome XK140 SE Fixed Head Coupe would seem singularly well suited to long distance touring (either in the UK or on the Continent). Offered for sale with UK V5C Registration Document and Heritage Certificate.

Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK140 SE FHC
We are pleased to offer this highly upgraded XK140 Special Equipment onto the market. This is a car ideal for regular use or long distance touring and has been equipped with many expensive upgrades that today would cost in the region of £20,000 supplied and fitted. This Jaguar XK has travelled well, starting life in the USA being distributed by Hoffman, New York. The XK was dispatched on the 29th August 1955 and was first owned by an Alberta Steele. In later years the XK was shipped over to Australia and in 2010 subject of a major refurbishment programme and range of impressive upgrades.
This XK140 has been fitted with a five speed gearbox and power steering that really enhance the driving experience. Disc brakes have been fitted all round to improve brake efficiency and air-conditioning is in place to improve comfort inside the car. On arrival, this was checked and blows ice cold, certainly something that would be welcomed during summer months and particularly if considering some overseas long distance touring. Further upgrades include an electric boot release, wider wheels with radial tyres and uprated cooling system. Whilst in Australia the Jaguar was also converted to right hand drive.
443 UYM was brought over to the UK in 2015 and was purchased with the intention of taking to shows, rallies and touring. There is no doubt the car is idea for touring and we can confirm it really is first class to drive. The engine starts instantly and reliably, it sounds terrific and offers impressive performance. The driving experience is certainly enhanced by the five speed gearbox making changes up and down the gearbox just effortless. The steering is lovely and light, brakes are very sharp and the car has a modern feel to it encouraging long distance and overseas touring. Several years since it was last re-painted and the XK presents well with a lovely deep paint finish and strong, straight panel work. The underside is impressive with a lovely clean chassis and the painted wires and chrome work are in very good order. The interior is stunning with excellent woodwork, lovely Beige leather upholstery, good quality carpets and headlining. 443 UYM is a real drivers car and should not disappoint on the road.
