According to the accompanying U.K. logbook, this left-hand drive XK 140 SE Fixed Head Coupe was first registered in the U.K. in June of 1955. Originally finished in grey with a black leather upholstery, it was given the U.K. registration RLK 803. The logbook shows that by 1963 it was registered to Michael Greenblade, who sold the car one year later to John Edward Harwick Sewell. Remaining in Mr. Sewell’s possession until 1966, the car was subsequently sold to Alfred George Wallom. At some point, the car’s original engine was fitted with a later 3.8-litre inline six-cylinder engine from an XK 150.
The Jaguar was acquired by the consignor’s family in 1973 and exported to Germany, where it has remained ever since. It was restored shortly thereafter and was repainted red whilst retaining its black leather upholstery. During the 1980s and 1990s, the car was driven regularly in vintage rallies in in Wiesbaden. Kept in a heated garage alongside a handful of other Jaguars of the same era, it has always been well looked after in its present ownership and used sparingly for special occasions in recent years.
