Ebay item 4/19/11 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1957-Jaguar-XK-140-MC-Roadster-OTS-/300549026091
Current bid $24,999.99, 2 bids 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1957 Jaguar XK 140 MC Roadster. This vehicle started it's life here in California with wire wheels, C-type cylinder head (210 bhp), fog lights, dual exhausts, and a 4-speed gearbox (with possibly overdrive).
It is currently fitted with a Pontiac 400 c.i. V-8 engine and a 4-speed manual gearbox, believed to be from a 1960's GTO, and also rear axle. This car is a double-black/yellow license plate California car from new, and is sold with a current, clean, CA title which still matches the two original license plates.
The body has acquired a pair of cooling vents beside the grille (photo), for the larger engine, and the spare wheel well area has been modified to fit a differnet fuel tank. The battery was relocated to behind the driver's seat. The firewall was modified to clear the distributor of the engine. The frame has some simple modifications to accept the V-8 engine, such as an extra support bracket underneath (photo), and a pair of engine mounts in the engine compartment.
The body is in decent overall condition, very solid, and dry being a CA car from new and living here in Southern California all of it's life. Doors and hood fit OK presently (photo) but have some minor typical hinge wear, and eventually could use re-gapping for a perfect fit. Trunk lid fits fine. Car is fitted with correct bumpers (front and rear), grille, splash pans, windshield assembly, sidescreen set, radiator, and extra wiper motor. It is missing (4) overiders, (2) center chrome strips (hood and trunk) and top frame. The dashboard and switches are original to the car, but instruments are American, with different seats and steering wheel. The frame/ chassis on this car is excellent, straight, and solid. All of the front suspension, front brakes, and steering rack are original and un-touched. With a little work, the current drive train is believed to be a good runner.
All changes/ modifications to this desirable XK 140 MC Roadster are reversible with some work, and drivetrains for these Jaguars are available. These cars are becoming increasingly rare and valuable, and this auction presents an economical opportunity to acquire such a vehicle.
