Sellers description:
Jaguar XK140 3.4 JD Sport roadster (1956) For sale from J D Classics, in Essex, United Kingdom

This beautiful XK140 roadster has been extensively upgraded by JD Classics and features a comprehensive package of desirable performance modifications to full JD Sport specification. Of particular note is the extended cockpit which affords considerably more leg room than a standard car and allows taller drivers to enjoy this delightful car.
Constructed in April 1956, this roadster originally left the factory in LHD configuration as a highly desirable special equipment model, which was exported to Los Angeles, where it was sold through the famous Hornburg distributors. Being a California car it benefitted from a dry climate during its stay overseas and when returned to the UK in recent years was found to be in excellent structural condition and formed a perfect candidate for a full professional chassis-off restoration that was completed by JD Classics in 2012.
During the restoration process the car was converted to RHD and received the above mentioned modification to the passenger area, which was undertaken in such a way as to deliver significantly more leg room yet have a minimal effect on the appearance of the cockpit area, which is almost indistinguishable from that of a standard car.
In addition the car received a considerable number of other performance upgrades including a JD Sport high torque touring specification engine fitted with the original C-Type cylinder head and very rare sandcast 2" SU carburettors. The electrics were uprated with a JD Sport starter motor and alternator, the cooling system was similarly improved and the exhaust system benefitted from a JD Sport handmade stainless steel exhaust manifold. The transmission was improved with a JD Sport 5 speed gearbox and limited slip differential and the handling was further enhanced with JD Sport Power Steering, JD Sport adjustable suspension and JD Sport Disc brakes.
Finished in Jaguar dark blue with matching hide and carpets it presents beautifully and the interior is wonderfully complimented by a bespoke burr walnut dashboard. It comes fitted with oversize chrome competition wire wheels but is also accompanied by a set of standard size body colour wires. Since completion of the work the car has been lovingly maintained by a noted collector and industry specialist and consequently remains in fabulous condition.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
