Ebay item 3/22/24

www.ebay.com/itm/116114568957

Car has a buy it now price of $32,500 for 29 days, seller monocoque-metalworks, car said to be in Elkton, Maryland, 50k miles

Seller's description:

This 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE/MC Roadster project is available for sale from Monocoque Metalworks. This is a GREAT project car - it is complete, numbers-matching, and in a very good overall condition for restoration. It was built in December of 1955, and was originally exported to the US, in Black exterior and a Black interior with white piping.

This is an SE (Special Equipment) car - also known as an “MC” - it has the following original, factory-fitted options:

* "Type C" engine with more horsepower

* Factory “CR” close-ratio Gearbox

* Factory Laycock DeNormanville Overdrive Unit

* Dual Exhaust

* Knock-off Chrome Wire Wheels

This car is complete, and is a fully matching numbers example - the engine and gearbox are the originals delivered with this car from the factory, and are both free and good restorable units.

We have TWO Heritage certificates from Jaguar for this project! The first is an older, hand-written certificate from 1977 that did not include the gearbox number. The second is a recent example that I requested to confirm that the gearbox is also the original unit, which it is.

The original brass data plate was missing and lost over the years, so I have acquired a new data plate and stamped it with all of the original numbers based on the Heritage Certificate and the numbers on the car’s components. EVERYTHING MATCHES - I have included photos of BOTH Heritage Certificates, the new Data Plate, the chassis number stamped into the frame, the gearbox stamping, the engine block and head stampings, and the original body tag. I have removed (blurred out) the last 2 digits chassis number in these photos for privacy, but did keep the DN suffix in place (which stands for “DeNormanville”, indicating that it is an original Overdrive car).

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
