Sellers description:
This is a 1956 Jaguar XK 140 MC roadster that is part of a private, eclectic collection in sunny, dry Arizona. This XK was purchased in totally, professionally restored condition in 2002 and has been used for the purpose of participating in 1000 mile intra state rallys and car shows that are currenly all the rage. Less than 2800 miles have been logged since the restoration. I don't have historical data regarding who performed the restoration or when, but close inspection reveals it to be a comprehensive, frame off, nut and bolt, no expense spared endeavor. To attest to its reliability, this car has participated in and completed two 1000 mile rallys with out a single problem.
This Jaguar runs and drives very well, diplaying excellent road manners. The engine is strong, smooth, runs cool and does not smoke or leak oil. The transmission is solid, quiet and precise shifting for a vintage Moss gearbox. The brakes are also smooth and predictable and do not pull or pulsate on application. The instruments have all been restored and refaced. They look incredible and function correclty. The exhaust note is melodious. unmistakably Jaguar. Special attention to detail is obvious where ever you look. The exhaust manifolds have been reporcelainized and the use of correct brass hardware was used where called for.
The body panel fit and paint finish were executed to a very high standard. The tan leather interior is all correct, supple and georgous. A proper Black Hartz canvas top with the correct glass rear widow compliment the brilliant red exterior. The brightwork on the car is excellent. Accessory tan lap belts are fitted as a safety upgrade. A large electric cooling fan is also mounted ahead of the radiator to assist engine cooling at idle and low road speeds. Included with the car are side curtains, jack, spare tire, brass knock-off hammer, oak spanner for the wheel spinners, T key, owners manual and Jaguar key fob. The tires are new radials mounted on chrome plated wire wheels.

2014 The Houston Classic Auction
Lot 13
ESTIMATE: $125,000 - $150,000
CHASSIS NO: S811714DN
Offered here is a spectacular example of Jaguar's history. Nothing was overlooked in the restoration of this vintage Jaguar and it is beautifully restored in all areas. The restoration began with a complete disassembly and every nut and bolt received attention in bringing this Jaguar back to factory specifications. Having spent its entire life in sunny Arizona, this XK140 was completely rust-free and solid throughout. The entire suspension system has been completely refurbished and it handles like new. It rides on new Firestone radial tires mounted on factory-correct chrome wire wheels. So reliable is this XK140, that it has completed the Copperstate 1000 and the California Mille without incident. Touring is also made much easier with an optional Laycock deNormanville electric overdrive and shifting is easy and effortless. Mechanically, the brakes are smooth and reliable and all instrumentation has been completely restored for peace-of-mind driving in any conditions. Under the hood is a gleaming engine compartment with an abundance of polished aluminum and exhaust manifolds that have been re-porcelainized for a gleaming and new-like finish. This XK140 also carries the rare and desirable "MC" or Special Equipment package that increased performance with a high-compression cylinder head. In the interest of engine protection, an oversized aluminum radiator has been fitted with a large electric cooling fan, mounted just ahead, in order to maintain engine temperature at low or idle speeds.
Most impressive on this XK140 is the fit and finish of its appearance as all body panels are properly aligned and the paint is clear and uniform. It is clearly evident that a high degree of craftsmanship was executed in the fit and finish of this fine sports car. Finished in classic red, it carries a black Haartz canvas top with a correct glass rear window that makes for a stunning contrast. Accessories included with this XK140 are side curtains, jack, spare tire, brass knock-off hammer, oak spanner for the wheel spinners, "T" key, and the owner's manual.
