Ebay item 10/11/13
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XK-1955-jaguar-xk-140-mc-ots-roadster-convertible-past-r ...
Current bid $10,099 reserve not met, 4 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This is very clean and very solid, driver quality 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC that restored by JK Restorations of Illinois in the mid to late 80's. This one was ordered by Charles Hornburg 10 days after it was built on 4/4/1955 she was originally a Lavender Gray with a red interior but obviously, we have some changes or the years.
The current owner drives this car to keep her from dying and it's speculated the car has about 15k miles since the restoration that required almost zero rust repair. He has owned her 10 plus years and has done what is required to keep her running correctly. This is a very very rust free example.
She now has a Claret Red paint job and biscuit leather interior.
Original Block but original C-type head has been replaced.
The brake master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders were replaced when the rear brakes were relined in 2008
The pan was removed in 2009:
bearings and crank within spec.
Updated drop head like dash
Good enough sound system
Winder Clock from B-52 bomber (sounds pricey)
15" E type knock offs with newer Radials
Newer Battery
Tool kit with some Diamler tools still there
Totally rust free trunk pan
The Trace certificate # is 16277
Mounted pig tail battery charger
4.09 differential
Electric over-drive
Electric fan
Matching top and cover
The Claret red paint is lacquer and shines nicvely but has a few spots around head lights that could use some touch up with very mild road rash around the car. It looks fantastic from ten feet but with 25 years it is just a bit better then driver quality now. Does not need a pint job if you are going to use her. Show? Well......The chrome is in very good condition with only mild mild glazing. The body is very solid, very straight and would be a great candidate for just a very mild cosmetic restoration. She sure is fine the way she is though.
The interior really looks sharp with the dash. Some of the original wiring was replaced but some left alone. I think it could use a little work there. The speedo does not work nor do the wipers, reverse lights or the highs. .......BUT THEY DID!
The motor is original minus head which I understand get replaced often. The C type head replaced and motor compartment detailed.
The car is a true driver with a nice shifting 4 speed.
Maybe you will find value in a driver and at 40-50k below one you should not drive in fear of points dropping. Maybe 10k on a mild cosmetic resto and then off to Barrett?
