Auction description:
Arizona
Thursday, January 20
1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster
LOT: 155
Chassis No. S810343
- “MC†options including wire wheels, dual exhaust, fog lights, “C†type cylinder head and larger two-inch SU H8 carburetors
- Superb restoration, multiple JCNA award winner
This car was sold new by New York importer Max Hoffman to Alan K. Litlaw in Haworth, New Jersey. Certified by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, it is equipped with the highly desirable MC options. “M†options include wire wheels (which help with brake cooling), dual exhausts and twin fog lights. The “C†options include the high compression, big-valve C-Type cylinder head and cams and two-inch SU carburetors, which raise horsepower from 190 hp to 210. This stunning black roadster sports a matching Stayfast canvas top, cinnamon red Connolly leather interior and Wilton carpets. The engine was completely rebuilt by marque specialist Bill Richert in 2005 and is fitted with a correct, C-Type replacement cylinder head. The car has been kept in Arizona in recent years and features a stock-appearing Ron Davis radiator for improved cooling.
This is a multiple JCNA First-In-Class winner and Best of Show winner at numerous All-British car shows. It performs as well as it looks and is a proven tour performer, having participated in the Copperstate 1000 and a number of other rallies.
