This striking car, one of the earliest XK140s, was completed on November 5, 1954, and it was shipped to Max Hoffman, the New York distributor, in the middle of the month. It has been completely restored, with the work being substantially completed in 2011 but continual refinement still occurring in 2012. It has been painted Pastel Blue and has a black leather interior and black canvas top. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2011, and receipts for which are available. It includes a full top with proper new-condition side curtains, as well as all factory tools, which include the brass knock-off hammer, a spark plug spanner, and even axle oil in its original tin. Also in the trunk are a spare tire with a matching chrome wire wheel and the original jack. On the dashboard are Breitling stop watches, for recording lap times and other sporting measurements.

The car was a consistent winner on the Jaguar Club North America circuit, with post-restoration scores ranging from 97.72 to 99.52. It has earned similar honors at many regional and local multi-marque shows, with the car placing Fourth Overall in the JCNA Champions division in 2011, which is a testament to the outstanding quality of this XK140. A restoration book that covers the 2007 to 2011 period comes with the car, as well as service records and a Heritage Certificate from the Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust, which attests to its production and original specification. Also included are judging sheets from its show history and a meticulous log book kept by its owner. A finer XK140 would be difficult to find.

This car has been overhauled and brought up to fully original new componets including the engine (head was damaged and ready to fail) oil and water pumps and a conversion of the original generator into an alternation within the old shell, and replacing thermostat to the starting carb. The car has received new rugs, hardura, and dark blue side curtains and top by Bassetts Jaguars. The car is beautiful, reliable, and fast. Jennifer has driven her more than 100 miles at speeds of 80 to 90 mph (which terrified Andy} ., It has many spares, all tools and a comprehensive reference library. 1955 XK140 OTS Jaguar roadster is over 50 years old and it looks and runs as good if not better than when it was brand new. From the information we have there has only been 4 owners and the last one has brought this vehicle back to the way it should be with a full frame off restoration completed in late 2004. This car has a new roof, interior, carpets and paint. All parts were replaced to as close to original as possible, the restorer Jim Soley followed the Jaguar restore books and ordered new parts from Jaguar to complete this fantastic automobile. This jaguar starts immediately and runs fantastic, the motor and transmission was sent away to california to have everything tuned and set as close to original as possible. I have personally driven this amazing machine and believe this to be one of the finest vehicles I have ever seen. This Jaguar XK140 MC roadster was completed on November 5, 1954, and thereafter distributed in the US through the Hoffman Motor Car Company in New York. The car was refurbished under prior ownership in blue over black upholstery, and following the current owner’s acquisition in 2014 electrical work was performed, an aluminum radiator and a PerTronix ignition coil were installed, and the brake hydraulics were replaced. Power comes from a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a dark blue canvas soft top with side curtains as well as chrome 16″ knock-off wire wheels, twin SU carburetors, a dual exhaust system, Lucas driving lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders. This XK140 is now offered on dealer consignment in Connecticut with a tool kit, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, JCNA Concours score sheets, service records, and a New Jersey title.

The car was finished from the factory in Birch Grey and was repainted in blue under prior ownership. Additional exterior details include a dark blue canvas soft top and removable side curtains, Lucas driving lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted side mirrors, and dual polished exhaust outlets. The wiper motor was rebuilt in 2017. Areas of paint chipping and cracking are visible.

Chrome-finished 16″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 6.00-16 Michelin Pilote X tires installed in 2017. At the same time, the brake hydraulics and shoes were replaced along with the left-rear wheel hub and the wheel bearings. The XK140 came equipped with rack-and-pinion steering from the factory.

Trimmed in red from the factory, the interior has been reupholstered in black with color-coordinated carpets. Additional appointments include a passenger-side grab handle, lap belts, and map pockets on both doors.

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The fuel-level gauge was overhauled in 2017. The five-digit odometer shows 17k miles, fewer than 1k of which have been added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six features a C-Type cylinder head with dual overhead camshafts, twin SU carburetors, and a dual exhaust system. The engine was rebuilt by Coventry West of Lithonia, Georgia in February 2011, and an aluminum radiator and a PerTronix ignition coil were installed in 2017.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The rear axle should be overhauled according to a 2017 invoicey.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers. Jaguar Club of North America concours score sheets are provided, along with records from 2011 and 2017.

The New Jersey title lists an odometer brand of “Not Actual Mileage.”
