Anders Clausager wrote that this car was officially the Appleyard demonstrator, but was rallied by Ian Appleyard, who came second in the 1956 RAC Rally (photo on p 150 of his book).
It was advertised for sale in Motor Sport magazine in Aug 1967:
BREAKING EX-APPLEYARD XK140 (VUB 140) Overdrive, c.r. gearbox; body rough, unused 5 years, not crashed, some parts missing, towable; £50 lot, o.n.o. Chesterfield (Derbyshire)
