VIN S676345

This Jaguar XK120 Roadster is a delightful classic two-seater, treated to an engine rebuild in desirable ‘M’ specification.

It is powered by a 3.4-litre inline-six, delivering around 182PS to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

A new black ‘Alpaca’ convertible hood has recently been fitted.

Previously located in the United States, this XK120 was later exported, and is now offered for sale via the trade in Caen, France.

The car is reported to have had just three owners from new, and the odometer shows 79,215 miles, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This XK120 is finished in red with a new black ‘Alpaca’ cloth hood, over a black leather-trimmed cabin punctuated by red piping.

It rides on a set of 16-inch wire wheels, secured with chrome twin-eared knock-offs, and shod with Firestone tyres.

The ‘M’ specification was built for the US market, and featured high-lift camshafts, stiffer valve springs, and twin SU carburettors.

The car also features XKE front disc brakes, a four-spoke steering wheel, and Smiths gauges.

The vehicle will be supplied with a spare wheel and a folder containing four decades of invoices.

CONDITION

Specific notes from the seller include: small scratches on the exterior brightwork.

SERVICE HISTORY

The seller reports that the engine has been rebuilt to ‘M’ specification, and the fuel tank has been replaced.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
