We note what looks like some glue residue just below the passenger grab-handle

All instruments are clean and easy to read

Wood-trimmed Jaguar steering wheel in good order

Seats are free of rips and tears with only a gentle sag

Door cards look practically brand new

Boot looks solid with a spare wheel, toolkit and gloves stowed inside

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
