    Sellers description:

    1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

    s/n 674797

British Racing Green with Saddle Leather

This particular car was sold originally in the USA as a left hand drive example. It was exported to the UK and restored by Longmate Vintage Restoration, Oaklands Lane, Runoton Holme, Kings Lynn, Norfolk during 1993, as documented by the receipts in the file. During the restoration the car was converted to RHD. The car was sold by Classic Automobiles Worldwide of London, to an American living and working in London in 2001. Upon his return to the United States in 2001, he brought the car with him back to California, where it has remained since.

The car has excellent panel fit, and the paint has held up extremely well. There are some small scrapes and blemishes in the paint but the overall impression is still very strong. The interior and top which were also restored have also held up well, with minor wear apparent on the driver's seat only. The car is equipped with wire wheels, tri bar headlights, and driving lights. The car sounds and runs well, and we would welcome any type of pre-purchase inspection. The car is fitted with an electric fan for use in modern traffic.

ATTENTION: Think this car is for more than one reason NOT 674797:

    1. this example here is an RHD, the serial no is for a LHD
    2. If you Look on the photo from the VIN plate you can see that some informations missing and it is attached with three screws
    3. but the most important reason is, that I found this car: rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/hn22/the-house-that-newman-haas-racing-built/lots/r00 ...

    Chassis No.: S 674797

    Engine No.: F 1850-8S

    Cylinder Head No.: F 1850-8S

    Documents: US Title

Good work Reno, one is an imposter. Interesting that it was assumed correct from 2013, all sellers agreed on the VIN.

    Description from above auction:

Chassis Plate No. S 674797 (SEE TEXT)

Chassis No. S 675322 (SEE TEXT)

    Engine No. F 1850-8S

    Body No. F 7067

    Cylinder Head No. F 1850-8S

    Documents US Title

Restored in the 1980s; completed in 1989

Finished in Pastel Blue over two-tone blue and grey leather

Shown at numerous JCNA events in the Midwest from 1989 to 1991

First Place in the Jaguar Class at the 1991 Chicago International Concours d’Elegance

Purchased by Mr. Haas in December 1993

Addendum: Please note, this Jaguar’s frame stamp exhibits chassis number S675322, while the chassis plate located in the engine bay is stamped chassis number S674797 (it is titled by this number). As recently as 2014, a Jaguar in Europe was claiming to be chassis number S 674797 (again, this Jaguar on offer exhibits this chassis number stamped on its chassis plate and is also titled by this number).

This 1954 Jaguar XK 120 SE Roadster left the factory on 28 January 1954 finished in Pastel Blue with a Blue interior and a French Grey top. A left-hand-drive example destined for North America, it was delivered to noted European importer Hoffman of New York. It is believed to have been sold new in Los Angeles, eventually finding its way to Norfolk, Virginia by about 1958. By 1961 the car was off the road and in need of repair. On 22 January 1982, the car was purchased by Russell C. Steiner and moved from Norfolk, Virginia to Chicago, Illinois. In 1984 a restoration was undertaken, with mechanical work completed by the owner, Russell Steiner, and bodywork and chassis work completed by JK Restorations of Oswego, Illinois. Following completion in July of 1989, the car was shown throughout the Midwest at JCNA events, and in June of 1991, the car took home First Place in the Jaguar Class at the Chicago International Concours d’Elegance.

In December of 1993, the Jaguar was purchased by Mr. Haas. Since acquisition the car has been sparingly driven and stored in a climate-controlled facility. The car is accompanied by a tonneau cover, tool roll, and knock-off hammer. Documentation with the car includes a 1987 Jaguar Vehicle Information Sheet, a short car history document from the prior owner, and a 2022 Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

Please note, this Jaguar’s frame stamp exhibits chassis number S 675322, while the chassis plate located in the engine bay is stamped chassis number S 674797 (it is titled by this number). As recently as 2014, a Jaguar in Europe was claiming to be chassis number S 674797 (again, this Jaguar on offer exhibits this chassis number stamped on its chassis plate and is also titled by this number).

This blue left-hand drive XK120 has always been in the United States since the original delivery in the 50s. All numbers match but the chassis. The chassis was replaced during restoration in the 80s because it was damaged. I know this car very well, because I am the one that restored it and owned it since the early 80s and I just purchased the car back. Please note (the green right hand drive X K 120 may be on the discarded frame) this vehicle does not match any numbers or descriptions.
