Ebay item 7/18/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-120M-SE-1954-Jaguar-XK-120-SE-M-Matching-Numbe ...
Opening bid $5,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 8 days left in auction. Buy it now price $46,500.
Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar XK 120M (SE, Special Equipment) Roadster. It is a totally complete car with a numbers matching drivetrain, both block and cylinder head. The car appears to be originally Red, but has been repainted once some time ago to it's current gunmetal grey with red interior color scheme. Please read on for an accurate and honest description.
CHASSIS #: S674696
BODY#: F6959
ENGINE#: F1712-85
G/BOX#: JL20772
VEHICLE HISTORY: This vehicle was purchased from Washington State from a private collection in which it resided since the early 1970's. The previous owner purchased the car in the Tacoma, Washington area around 1974. It has definitely been garaged for the last 33 years in his car storage facility and was purchased from a Jaguar club member.
BODY CONDITION: Excellent, straight, rust free and accident free body. Excellent hood and trunk fit. Car still retains most all original factory undercoating on rear of body panels. Doors sag a little on both sides of car due to typical worn hinges, and hinge attachment areas need some work/attention. Doors need to be re-aligned for perfect fit. Very slight bubbling on passenger rocker (photo) is the only detectable rust on the car. Overall, the body is very clean with some very minor rippling along the front fenders. There are some small dents on the driver's side door (photo). Older repaint is now showing some age.
CHASSIS CONDITION: Excellent, straight, rust-free chassis. Good, dry undercarriage with mostly all original factory undercoating to body panels/sheet metal (photos).
MECHANICS: Excellent, running original engine with good oil pressure, no smoke or noises, and running in the normal temperature range. Starts easily and willingly revs. Engine is very clean and tidy and may have been rebuilt in the past. I have driven the car a few miles and would recommend the following improvements: the current tires (Pirelli Centuratos) have some flat spots from sitting. They need replacing. The gearbox is smooth and quiet in all gears but would recommend new synchros. Brakes are spongy from sitting and seem to grab a little. Car needs shocks and maybe some suspension rubber bushes. Good exhaust system (original tarin type). Very nice 16" chrome wire wheels seem to be in good condition with good knockoffs. This car currently has some bad fuel in the tank and would need a fuel system cleanout. Engine bay is clean and tidy and would be an easy detail.
TRIM: Older, decent vinyl interior is currently fitted with red carpets (photos). Most all chrome is decent to good condition. Top and sidescreen set are old and need replacing/reconditioning. Original steering wheel with correct horn push/trafficator. Original jack and handle. Some spares in trunk. Correct S.E. foglamps. Desirable tri-bar headlamps.
Overall this car has just come out of long-term storage and was last driven at length in the mid-1980's. It would benefit from some brake and fuel system work but is currently driving. Very little effort would make this XK a decent driver reay to enjoy. The body and chassis are in very good condition, and the car has been preserved and well taken care of.
