Somebody an idea: the colors for interior an exterior are vice versa in the heritage certificate than the car itself maybe a restoration in the past and the restorator forget to use his glasses.

This 1954 Jaguar XK120 was acquired by the seller in 2014.

Work carried out by the seller’s shop over the next few years included engine and suspension rebuild, and the addition of a Tremac 5 speed and Wilwood disc brakes for performance and safety.  Upgrades to the electrical and cooling systems were performed including an alternator conversion and aluminium radiator

Equipment includes a tan soft top with side curtains, chrome wire wheels, an adjustable steering column, and twin exhaust pipes. This XK120 is presented with an owner’s manual, a factory toolkit and jack, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, refurbishment and service records, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

As stated on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the XK120 was originally finished in Cream with red interior and black hood. Uncertain when the paint and interior were altered to the current scheme. The tan soft top and side curtains were added in 2017.

The chrome 16″ wire wheels with chrome two-eared knockoff spinners wear Coker Classic (radial) tires. A full-size spare resides in the trunk, along with the factory toolkit and jack.

The cabin is tan leather and features a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The dashboard houses lighting, wiper, and ventilation controls. A brass plaque Certified by Jaguar Cars Ltd, Coventry, England as a “replica of the record breaking car which achieved the speed of 141.51 mph at Jabbeke Belgium” was added by the current seller. 

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer with a 5,200-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows 01941, title shows 1537. True mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-litre inline six is equipped with the Special Equipment package, which included twin SU carburetors, higher lift camshafts, and dual exhaust pipes for a factory rated output of 180 horsepower at 5,300 rpm. 

Cylinder head stamping F1634-8S corresponds to the engine number displayed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate as well as the chassis tag.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists a build date of 7 January 1954, along with the factory colors and the chassis, body, engine, and gearbox numbers, issued in 2007.

There are minor paint imperfections from having touring and pure enjoyment.

This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was completed on January 7, 1954, distributed in the US through Charles Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles, California, and acquired approximately seven years ago by the late owner. Finished in red with a tan soft top over a matching interior, the car is powered by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes Pertronix electronic ignition, Wilwood front disc brakes, and chrome-plated knock-off wire wheels. A mechanical refurbishment was reportedly carried out in 2015, while more recent work is said to have included servicing the suspension, carburetor, steering box, and alternator. This XK120 is being offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate in New Freedom, Pennsylvania with removable side curtains, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a tool kit, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Maryland title.

Finished from the factory in Cream, the car was repainted its current shade of red some time ago. Exterior features include a tan soft top, chrome bumperettes, and fender-mounted side mirrors. A pair of removable side curtains is included in the sale. Various paint imperfections are noted by the seller.

Chrome-plated wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners, and a full-size spare is found in the rear storage area. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood front discs with rear drums. The seller notes work in July 2021 included an alignment along with rebuilding the steering box and idler, replacing the tie rod assembly, and replacing the front shock absorber upper bushings and rear lever arm shock links and pins.

The cabin was trimmed in red from the factory but has since been reupholstered in tan leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for both occupants, and additional features include a height-adjustable rear-view mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, and map pockets in both doors. The seller describes wear on the seats and notes that the brake light switch has been recently replaced.

A black four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a leather-accented dash that houses Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt in 2015 and features PerTronix ignition along with an aluminum radiator and dual SU carburetors that were rebuilt in 2021. Additional work that same year has included an oil change along with replacement of the alternator.

Cylinder head stamping F1634-8S shown above matches the numbers stamped on the engine block and chassis plate as well as on the Heritage Trust certificate.

A Tremec five-speed manual transmission has been installed in place of the factory four-speed gearbox.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers, along with a build date of January 7, 1954.
