This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster was built by the owner starting around 2020. It is equipped with alloy bodywork and a five-speed gearbox, and its 3.4-liter straight-six has been bored to 3.8 liters. Additional modifications include a cut-down windshield, Gaz shocks, XK140 rack-and-pinion steering, Zeus front disc brakes, Girling rear disc brakes, and XK140 rear shocks. a custom-upholstered cockpit, Heuer stopwatches, and custom-fitted luggage. This XK120 is now offered on behalf of the owner with a clean Florida title.
The car was purchased in pieces by the seller around 2013 after sitting dismantled since 1964. The aluminum body was sourced from abroad and painted in Aston Martin Racing Green. Additional modifications include cut-down doors, deleted front sidelight pods, front brake ducts, a front air intake to the carburetors, a cut-down windshield, and Raydot exterior mirrors. The car has no soft top.
Chrome 16″ Dayton wire wheels are mounted with Kumho Majesty tires. Modifications include Gaz shocks, a Jaguar XK140 rack-and-pinion steering system, Zeus four-pot front disc brakes, Girling rear disc brakes, and a Jaguar XK140 rear shock conversion.
The custom Biscuit and Tan leather interior features handmade bucket seats, a custom console, fitted luggage in the doors and trunk, a contoured dashboard with lacing in the D-roll, and floor-mounted pedals. Amenities include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, Heuer Trackmaster stopwatches, a map light, and a D-type steering wheel on a Jaguar Mk II steering column.
The trunk is upholstered to match the cockpit and has a plaid-lined compartment to house the tool kit.
Smiths instrumentation includes a reverse-sweep tachometer and a replacement speedometer. The digital odometer shows around 1k miles.
The car’s 3.4-liter straight-six was bored to 3.8 liters in 2021, and the seller tells us that the cylinder head is a C-type unit built by Bill Terry to D-type specification. The engine is equipped with triple SU carburetors on a period-built McClure inlet manifold, a Redhorse Performance fuel filter, and an aluminum radiator.
The engine stamping W7918-8S matches the number on the chassis tag and the Jaguar Heritage certificate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tremec gearbox and a Salisbury limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Heritage certificate notes the original chassis, body, and engine numbers.
