www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2023-09-23/cars/ref-77-1953-jaguar-xk120-se- ...
Auction description:
Bicester Heritage September 23rd 2023
Lot 241 - 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster
Registration 656 XVB
Chassis Number S673444
Engine Number W7190-8S
Odometer reading 1,075 miles
Estimate £85,000 - £95,000
This handsome XK120 SE was repatriated from the US in 2018 and has been owned by the vendor since 1st June 2018. The car was converted to right hand drive and thoroughly enjoyed by the owner. However due to now living abroad he uses the car very little and feels the time is right for someone else to enjoy this XK120 SE. Upon our inspection the car started immediately, with the XK engine running well with no adverse noises. The gearbox operates as it should with smooth changes. The silver paintwork is in good order and the red interior has a nice patina. These are charming cars to drive and will always put a smile on your face when drive down country lanes. This example is supplied with a V5C registration document, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a history folder.

Auction description:
Flight of Elegance; Farnborough International, 3rd May, 2025
Lot 231
Estimate £68,000 - £75,000
1953 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster
Registration: 656 XVB
Chassis No: S673444
Engine No: W7190-8S
Mileage: 01,094
Front brake disc conversion
New hood
JDHT Certificate
Manufactured on 13th January 1953, this Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster was dispatched to Hornburg in Los Angeles on 27th January. It was repatriated from the US in 2018 and was converted to right hand drive format by the then owner. Clearly restoration work has been carried out on this XK120 SE as it presents very well in silver with a red leather interior. The chromework is in good order and the hood is relatively new. Some recent work carried out includes light recommissioning, mainly due to lack of use, hence the reason why this Jaguar is on the market. A disc brake conversion has been carried out to improve the driving experience, when on song these XK’s can travel along with alacrity. The car started immediately when requested, with the XK engine running well with no adverse noises and the gearbox operates as it should with smooth changes. This example is supplied with a V5C registration document, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a collection of invoices. This is a very capable and comfortable XK120 SE that is ready to be enjoyed for the summer ahead. Consigned by Stewart Banks.

Despatched on 27 January 1953 to Hornburg, Los Angeles, California, USA. Sold new on 5 June 1953 to Mr W.J. Braeken. The last registered owner in the USA was Greg Tyree of Turlock, California, before the car was brought out to Australia during the 1990s by Graham Jackson of the Perth outer suburb of Roleystone, WA, being the second of two XK120 roadsters imported by him. It still had the remains of a twin exhaust system. The block from this car W7190-8S was acquired by a Perth buyer.
