1954 Jaguar XK120

Registration no. JUH1

Chassis no. S661172

Odometer Reading: TBA

MoT Expiry: Exempt

This XK120 has a competition air and features numerous styling and mechanical tweaks. The aluminium body has been de-seamed and features bonnet louvres, aero screens and a 'Monza' fuel cap. The red paintwork is reported to be good. The black interior features well-trimmed leather bucket seats and a smaller steering wheel, and is in good condition. Our vendor says the engine was reputedly built to 'fast road' specification, but this cannot be confirmed, but they do report it goes well and sounds fantastic.

Saleroom notices

Please note, this Jaguar XK120 is a Special Equipment model which was restored by the late Barry Byford – a very well regarded restorer of Jaguar motorcars. The car is offered with Barry's build record detailing the works completed, upgrades made etc. The engine currently fitted is a fast road 3.8-litre unit. The original engine is offered as lot 105.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
