This Jaguar 140 DHC (= Drop Head Coupe = soft top) left the factory in Coventry in May '56. Dispatched to the french importer Charles-F. Delecroix on July 23, '56 and delivered through Royal-Elysées, well known Jaguar dealer in Paris (France) on July 27, '56. The urban legend says that the fist owner was Paul Ricard (French business tycoon); unfortunately there are no evidence of that first ownership.
20+ years ago, a man in Provence, went through a ground-up restoration. In Y2K, was sold to a person living in Baune (Burgundy). Bought it in 2008 and have to sell it due to others projects.
This matching numbers 140 is a Special Equipment (but C type head) with (brand new) wire wheels, windscreen washers, OD. The Laycock-de-Normanville OD runs perfectly. The (original) gearbox is Close Ratio.
The original body color was *Battleship grey*. The present paint is 20+ years old and still nice eventhough there are a few chips to fix. The leather trim (color: cream) is perfect. All the gauges are acurate and fine; speedo in KPH shows 37,180 (which stand for 137,180 of course).
This fast and comfortable Jaguar is a pleasure to drive even in the modern daily traffic. She is ready for Concours d'Elegance and rallies as well.
