Car to be at auction 12/18
www.aguttes.com/html/fiche.jsp

Auction description:
Lot 131
75,000 - 95,000 €
1957 - JAGUAR XK 140 SE FIXED HEAD COUPE
French gray card
Chassis # A815854
Equipped with a Type-C cylinder head Completely revised
Rare left-handed version

The Jaguar XK 140 that we present to you was delivered new to the Jaguar Cars dealership of New York on October 30, 1956 according to its certificate issued by the Jaguar Heritage. It was reimported to Europe more recently, where it was completely restored a few years ago. A complete painting was done in its original carmen red color and the upholstery and the carpets have been completely changed.
On the mechanical side, our XK 140 was grafted with a Type C cylinder head that allows the engine to develop 210 horses. Now equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering, the XK 140 is easier to maneuver than its predecessor, and the recent costs incurred in the car will only make it more desirable. The clutch has been replaced, the rack has been rehabilitated, the exhaust line has been changed, the water pump and the water hoses are new and the mechanics have been completely overhauled by a specialist. During our test on the banks of the Marne, we were satisfied with the good general behavior of the car which is ready to take the road for the happiness of its future owner.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
