Current bid $2,125, no reserve, 2 bids, 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK 140 (M) Special Equipment Fixed Head Coupe. The Special Equipment competition model offeres wire wheels and a pair of Lucas foglamps in addition to it's 180 bhp engine and twin exhaust system. This essentially rust-free California car is the 361st. (LHD) coupe produced and is one of approximately 3000 total fixed head coupes ever made. It was delivered in the rare and attractive color scheme of Black with Red trim. Some of the car is original paint with some primer touch-up, but is an extremely honest, bondo and rust-free vehicle ready for restoration! It is a four-speed manual car, and has a recorded mileage of just 67,013 miles! before being put into storage. There is some surface rust in some areas, but is completely rust-free except for a small area in front of both rear wheels (photo).
BODY: All original body panels in good condition. Very nice and straight doors, hood, and trunk lid. Drivers door has a minor dent in the middle of it. Very nice front fenders and cowling with excellent hood fit. Some minor dings and dents. Dent on R/front fender (near battery box) from underside. Doors both sag a little when opened (play on upper hinges) but gaps look good and very consistent. Excellent roof. Good trunk lid fit. Dents on left rear fender. Overall, body is in good shape for being 50 years old with hardly any rust!
CHASSIS: Very solid, straight, accident free chassis with some minor surface rust where paint is peeling. Body dented on spare tire well floor and battery box area. No rust-through on any chassis areas. Completely solid California frame.
MECHANICS: Correct and original matching #'s block. Cylinder head has been replaced with W3389-8. Motor is stuck from sitting. Correct and original 4-speed transmission, driveshaft, axle, etc. Transmission shifts through all gears fine. Vehicle is missing radiator, steering rack, rear brake shoes and hardware (have drums). Everything else is there and complete, but would assume needs restoring.
TRIM: Interior trim is mostly original but needs restoring. Dash is missing temp and amp gauge. Interior items missing are horn push, driver's side door glass, ashtrays, and door panels, but most items are available. Driver's windshield glass is cracked. Car has most of it's chrome which needs restoring, but is missing front bumper overriders, headlamp rims, bonnet and trunk chrome strips, and front and rear windscreen trim (most available new).
Chassis #: A814361 (LHD coupe #361 produced)
Body#: J4561
Engine#: G 4003-8
Gearbox #: OSL 30207 (4-speed)
Original California Black Plates Number: BLE974
Overall, this is a rare oppurtunity to secure a desirable XK140 S.E. Coupe with a well preserved California body and chassis. Car is sold with a current California title, current license plates, registration and correct and original VIN tags.
