Ebay item 11/13/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-140-1955-/300623160697
Car has a buy it now price of $120,000 for 20 days. Car now said to be in Franklin, Tennessee.

Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK 140 Roadster. I'm selling this museum quality Jaguar for a friend of mine who has owned it for the last ten years. It is red with red leather interior. The current owner is selling it because he's moving from the Nashville area to California and does not have garage space for it there. This car is in as close to perfect condition as possible and is without doubt, one of the finest examples in existence, anywhere. There is nothing wrong, and the car needs nothing. The car was purchased by the current owner approximately ten years ago from Sports Chalet in Hinsdale, Ohio, has been maintained by JD's British in Nashville since that time and has always been stored indoors. The owner thinks that it was restored around 15 years ago but doesn't know for certain. The odometer shows 7,993 miles which may or may not be correct.

BODY AND INTERIOR:
The top, side curtains, carpet, seats, door panels, instrument panel, windshield are all as close to perfect as possible. There is no rust anywhere in the body and the aluminum door, hood, and trunk are dent free. The chrome plated wheels shine like new. Everything looks brand new and is correct.

MECHANICAL:
Everything functions as designed. The engine, brakes, steering, suspension all work as new. A current aftermarket electric fan has been added in front of the radiator (note picture) to aid in cooling the double overhead cam engine. It's performance is on par with its appearance.

If you want one of the finest XK 140s in the world, this is the one for you. You may schedule an appointment to see and drive the car in the Nashville, TN area with 48 hours notice.

This Jaguar is one of only 1,370 examples that delivered in left-hand-drive form from the factory in 1955. It was brilliantly maintained by its former owner from Tennessee since 2001. It was built new in February 17th, 1955 for the Jaguar importer Charles Hornburg located in Los Angeles, California. The original owner was a First Lieutenant based at Camp Pendleton for the United States Army. It has undoubtedly received a very competent restoration, and drives every bit as good as it looks! It starts easily, all gauges are functional, as well as the wipers, horn, turn signals, interior & exterior lighting, etc. The full running temperature never exceeded 85 degrees Celsius on an extended test drive, and oil strong pressure at idle and under throttle! Clutch engagement is smooth, and braking is reliable and confident under all conditions! It is surprising quick and a splendid joy to drive!

This wonderful Jaguar will make for a terrific show car and tourer for the driver enthusiast! It has been upgraded with a 10" manually operated cooling fan on the radiator. It can be used as-needed during the hotter driving season. Complete with matching spare, jack, oiling can, storage key, convertible top boot, and original side curtains. Please call with any questions or to make an appointment to inspect the car in person.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
