A very rare original example of this vehicle. I have owned it for the last 30 years during which time it has undergone a complete restoration. Apart from the colour change it is in the original state it left the factory with all matching numbers as per the heritage certificate. I have its history since it was first shipped to Jaguar New York in February 1959. A recent valuation is available and is reflected in the asking price.

Seller's description:

VIN #: S 838066

Transmission: Auto
Condition: Mint
Exterior: Blue
Interior: Cream Leather
Chassis #: S 838066 BW, Engine #: V 6306 8, Gearbox #: JBX1135A, Body # P7347.
This car was manufactured at Brown's Lane, Coventry, UK in January 1959 and was sent to Jaguar Cars in New York in February 1959. It is a 3.4ltr, Left Hand Drive, Drophead Coupe with a Borg Warner Automatic gearbox.
This car was first purchased from Jaguar Cars New York on the 29th September 1959 by a gentleman from Arizona, who owned it for 22 years until July 1981 when it was sold.
The second owner was a gentleman from Needles, California. He owned it for the next 12 years until May 1989 when it was sold.
The third owner was a gentleman from Queenstown, New Zealand, who purchased it through a dealership in Oceanside California in an unroadworthy state with a recorded mileage of 35843 before being purchaed by us in November 2018 with a mileage of 47755 miles.
For the first 30 years of its life, the car was in the dry climate of the West Coast of Arizona and California. The second owner apparently did not use the car for some years until 1987 when it was subjected to a complete overhaul of the engine, transmission and exhaust sytems prior to an intended total refurbishment, which subsequently did not take place and the car was left undercover in the dry desert conditions until 1989, when it was purchased by the previous owner to us.
Although the car was entirely rust free, the soft furnishings, rubber and wiring had all deteriorated to such an extent that it was decided to embark on a complete restoration. The car was shipped to New Zealand via Hong Kong and was over the next ten years subjected to a total nut and bolt rebuild and restoration. It was decided then to repaint the car in a deep blue Jaguar colour with Biscuit / Tan leather interior. Original colour was Cream with Black trim.
Where possible, some of the original parts were retained and refurbished, for example the brake cylinders were sent to a specialist in New York for complete refurbishment, the twin SU carburettors were sent to a specialist in the UK for a complete rebuild. However, all rubber components and wiring looms were purchased new from the UK and refitted. For practical reasons, the electrical systems now utilises just one 12volt battery. The engine head was removed and valve seats and guides upgraded to accomodate new fuel requirements, as was the fuel stystem. The automatic gearbox was stripped and rebuilt with new seals and the transmission shaft balanced. New Koni shock absorbers and a stainless steel exhausr system now enhance the original vehicle systems. The car is fitted with 16” chrome wire wheels and Dunlop radials.
The “soft furnishings”, upholstery and hood materials were purchased from Suffolk and Turley and Barry Hankinson UK (Jaguar specialists). New wooded stringers for the soft top were fitted and soft top and interior completed by Howard Anderson Car Upholsterers iof Invercargill.
The engine, gearbox and chassis all remain as the original matched numbers as the car left the factory in 1959.
The previous owner, an aeronautical engineer and pilot, owned this car over the past 30 years. During his ownership, this car has been consistently and meticulously maintained.
This car has also had some minor successes such as:
First prize – Te Anau Race day January 1999
First prize and Concours winner Teretonga Races 7th Feb 1999
3rd Place in Concours, 7th National Jaguar Rally Millbrook April 2000
Car comes complete with its Heritage certificate from Jaguar Heritage, with extensive maintenance and purchase records during restoration, Jaguar XK150 handbook, workshop service and maintenance manuals.
Comfortable, fast, excellent road manners, and styling that continues to age well. As with all Jaguars, great specialist and club back-up.
Total Jaguar XK150 production was 9,398 examples and of these, the XK150S model totalled 1,466 units, with 924 roadsters, 349 FHC and 193 DHC.
Today the Jaguar XK150 has an excellent support international network of specialists experienced in maintaining the XK engine. They are more practical to use than the earlier XK120 and XK140.
