Car to be at auction 8/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 141 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster
Estimate: €90,000 - €105,000
Registration Number: EU Registered
Chassis Number: 832055DN

The stunning matching numbers example you see here today was exported to the U.S. in 1959, and spent much of its life in the benevolent warm and dry climate of California. It later returned to Europe in the hands of a German collector, before being repatriated to the UK in the late 1980s by well known Porsche Le Mans driver Nick Faure. With one owner from 1988 until 2010, the car has been stored carefully and used sparingly, having only completed 1,000 or so miles in the last 17 years.
In the last year a bare metal repaint has been undertaken at great cost and as such 832055DN is presented in a stunning livery of opalescent Silver Metallic, with handsomely retrimmed interior in black leather.
Supplied with substantial history file containing many bills for work completed, a current UK MoT certificate, and both UK V5 and also German registration documents, this is a superb opportunity to own a beautiful example of this ultimate XK model Jaguar, which will make a spectacular addition to any enthusiast's collection.
Note: the UK registration number assigned to the car will be retained by the vendor.

Car returned to auction 5/12

Registration: tbc
Chassis Number: T832055DN
Engine Number: VS19289
Odometer reading: 88,000
Estimate: £75,000 - £85,000
Hammer: Sold
Plus Commission: £78,400
Presented in silver with a contrasting black leather interior and hood, this stunning example of the most desirable version of Jaguar XK150 range was originally sold to the United States of America before being repatriated back from California to the UK. The first owner was none other than Nick Faure, former Le Mans driver and famous for his fine taste in motorcars. Latterly, it was acquired the grandson of a Maharaja and formed part of his extensive collection. It has recently been the subject of a full ground-up body restoration to concours condition and benefits from new chrome wire wheels all round. The interior is the original leather trim with the dash replaced, by the factory when new, from leather to a burr Walnut unit. The driving experience takes place through a manual gearbox with the overdrive switch positioned on the transmission tunnel, the sign of an early car and highly desirable. With just 88,000 verifiable miles recorded from new and a full history file available, this rare XK represents not only blue chip investment potential but a superlative motoring experience.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
