Current bid $40,000 reserve not met, 6 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
FRESH RESTORATION!!! ONLY 300 MILES AND SIX FIGURES SPENT ON THIS BEAUTY!

BEAUTIFUL DARK BLUE and TAN LEATHER COMBO is PERFECT on this CAT!!!

Very rare DROPHEAD Model - a true wire wheel car with matching numbers. The XK140 is one of the most collectable of the XK Jaguars - very comfortable - very elegant indeed!

21 month complete restoration starting with a media blast of body including engine compartment; new wiring harness; new body rubber; all new seals and grommets throughout; cylinder head rebuild; all mechanical components checked and rebuilt as needed; complete reseal of engine; trans; differential; new electrical and/or rebuilt electrical components; all new and/or rebuilt brake components; stainless steel exhaust system; porcelain headers; rebuilt radiator; all new chrome or rechromed original parts; new windshield glass; all new top bows and wood surrounds; new BF Goodrich tires; new shocks; new wire wheels. It goes on and on. Beautiful dark navy blue over new tan hides; dark blue matching top; matching hood envelope; of course it has the correct "pin beading" surrounding the hood. The wood was polished and clear coated; and seat belts were installed for safety.

I have all receipts. Car only had 62500 miles claimed when purchased. A correct wire wheel example (not M model) Chassis No. 819005; Engine No. G9132-8; Gearbox No. JL36256CR; Body No. P5471.

If you ever wanted a concours quality car to show or drive - here it is. Car has been done correctly and by professional restoration shop. I am a XK fanatic. All of my cars have been concours or mint examples. This car needs only the tops of the rear jump seats to be finished in matching leather to be a show winner - at present they are incorrect but very presentable. Also the fuel guage is not reading correctly as it doesn't show completely full - I am very picky. I'll fix the guage. The rear jump seats are fine.

Car is located in SF Bay Area.

Comprehensively restored in the mid-2000s; retains matching-numbers engine and cylinder head

Refinished in handsome color combination of Pacific Blue over tan leather interior

Documented with JDHT certificate and restoration invoices

Offered with tool roll and owner’s manuals

Ideal for touring, event use, or display

Please note that this lot is titled as a 1957.

Still displaying the benefits of a quality restoration conducted in the mid-2000s, this beautiful XK 140 is a particularly fetching example of Coventry’s classic postwar Drophead Coupe. According to a JDHT certificate, chassis number 819005 completed assembly in early October 1956, finished in Pastel Blue paint and trimmed with a red interior. Dispatched from the factory nine days later, the XK was distributed to Jaguar Cars New York for retail.

By the early 2000s the Jaguar was owned by Bill Ross of Alamo, California, and he set about a comprehensive restoration that took nearly two years to complete. Primarily conducted by KATS British Car Service of Englewood, Colorado, the refurbishment included a rebuild of the cylinder head, brakes, and radiator. The exhaust manifold was properly recoated in porcelain, and the engine, gearbox, and differential were resealed. The shock absorbers, wiring harness, and electrical components were replaced as needed, while a stainless steel exhaust system was installed. New seals and soft parts were fitted, and the windshield and brightwork trim were replaced.

The body was media blasted and refinished in handsome Pacific Blue paint, while the interior was reupholstered with tan leather and complementary dark blue carpeting. This was supplemented with a new wood dashboard and door sill trim finished in clear coat and polished to perfection. The top assembly was updated with new wood bows, and a new soft top was sewn from dark blue canvas and surrounded with correct pin beading. All contributes to an elegant color combination that presents beautifully. New wire wheels shod with Vredenstein Sprint Classic tires completed the meticulous restoration, while the addition of seatbelts enhances the Jaguar’s safety, making it a prime candidate for touring and driving events. Completed by late 2006, the refurbishment is documented with invoices on file.

With stampings consistent with its accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, this XK 140 retains its matching-numbers engine and cylinder head; it is offered with a tool roll, owner’s manual, and spare wire wheel. With its comfortable leather seats, roll-up windows, and all-weather convertible top, this Jaguar would make an ideal entrant on tours like the Copperstate 1000 or California Mille. The car’s beautiful cosmetic finish also assures that it would present very well at local concours d’elegance and marque club gatherings. It offers its next caretaker a brilliant experience in British open-air motoring, sure to distinguish any Jaguar collection or gathering of postwar roadsters.

1956 Jaguar XK140 Drop Head Coupe

The Amelia Auction | Estimate: $140,000 - $160,000

Subject to a meticulous restoration by KATS British Car Service, Englewood, Colorado

Numbers matching engine, head, and body as per Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate

Finished in Pacific Blue over tan leather and a dark blue canvas top

Well-suited for touring, road events, or display

Accompanied by a jack, spare, and tool roll

Chassis No. 819005

Engine No. G 9132-8

Body No. P 5471

This fine XK140 was completed at the Browns Lane plant in October 1956 and left wearing Pastel Blue paintwork and trimmed in Red Connolly leather. Destined for Jaguar Cars New York nine days after completion, little else is known about the Jaguar's early history. By the early 2000s, 819005 had found its way to Alamo, California, where it remained in original but rather tired condition. The owner subsequently commissioned KATS British Car Service of Englewood, Colorado to conduct a comprehensive restoration, starting with the rebuilding of the original cylinder head, brakes, and radiator. All major mechanical components including the engine, gearbox, and differential were resealed, and it was equipped with a new stainless steel exhaust system. Cosmetically, the car received all new glass and brightwork, while the original body panels were media blasted and professionally resprayed in elegant Pacific Blue. The interior was tastefully reupholstered in tan leather and the folding top assembly completely refurbished in matching dark blue canvas. A set of chrome-plated wire wheels complement the rest of the beautiful exterior.

Completed in 2006, this Drop Head Coupe continues to impress almost two decades since its restoration. As an evolution of the trailblazing XK120, it also comes with a number of desirable improvements to comfort and usability, including rack-and-pinion steering and electric overdrive. Today, this numbers-matching example would make an ideal sports car for rallies, road events, or local concours.
