Sellers description:
1956 XK 140 DHC BARN find. This car has been in the family for over 22years and is an original Arizona car. This car is not for everyone, you must know how to restore a car or have access to someone who can. The restoration began with a concours level restoration on a NON-matching number MC engine and 4spd trans. This includes the carbs and is on a dolly. The rust free body was taken off the car and the Frame was powder coated and all of the suspension was done at this time. The body was then sand blasted and primed. The body is very straight and only requires a small amount of work at the very front nose section of the car, as you can see in the photos. All of the major parts are their. The little parts example door handles can be purchased new for less than rechroming the original ones. The wood is in poor condition on the dash because this is Arizona. (a complete wood kit for the car is 2800.00 thru guy-broad in the UK. The car is a wire wheel car with original brakes. (I would suggest upgrading to disc brakes on the front, the kits run 1500. and greatly improve the driving of the car. The car needs paint New interior rechrome, new wireharnes ect... I figured you can have this car finnished and be into it for under 80k with no problem. Thats half price if you want to put the work in. This is a pristine body not a chopped up car. It can be shipped anywhere in the world, I will put the engine and trans into the car for transportation of it. I have ordered the Heritage Certificate for the car and should have it any day now.
To answer some common questions, the engine and trans are totally rebuilt to top standards and would run you between 12 to 15k to do. The frame powder coating and sand blasting and suspension work would run 4500.00 So the car has almost 20k in work done and very little for the body to be finished.
