Additional description from above auction:
This 1956 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe continues to benefit from a 1999 restoration performed by award-winning Jaguar marque specialist Ralph Miller of York, Pennsylvania's Olde York Classics. The work was commissioned by the Jaguar's then-owner Dr. Bruce Rudin of Wilmington, Delaware. The frame-of process was completed over the next five years with virtually no expense spared. Following completion, desirable upgrades for enhanced drivability included the installation of a five-speed BMW M5 manual gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes, stainless exhaust, electronic ignition, Aston Martin rack and pinion steering, an aluminum radiator and electric fan, dual-circuit brake master cylinder, and 2″ carburetors. Interior work was performed by the UK Jaguar coach-trimming specialists at Suffolk and Turley, and the interior woodwork refinished by Vintage Restorations. Plating was done by Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance® winners The Finishing Touch. The balanced and blueprinted engine is reported by the consignor, a respected collector, to produce an estimated 240 hp, providing a noteworthy boost over factory specification. As offered, this Jaguar is ready to deliver an unforgettable top-down experience with its classic styling and thoughtfully upgraded mechanicals.
