Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK 140 Drophead Convertible
Chassis # 817236
Engine # G 1980-8
Many new parts..........Engine, gas tank, inner sheet metal, fenders[rear], exhaust,Chrome plating etc
This XK 140 DHC has been in a proffessional shop since 2005 getting restored. Owner passed away unexpectantly last year so this rare Drophead came available to us. To date $30,000 has been spent on metal repair [ parts/labor] including in that price some $ 6,000 in chrome plating. Plating i must say has been performed to a very high standard. Body comes with two new rear fenders.Body is just sitting on frame. Engine appears to be rebuilt, has new pistons oversized and new head. [see photos] Engine matches chassis but head has been switched at one time in its life. Mufflers, tail pipes, and exhaust are all new but been sitting around for awhile.Missing parts that I know of are, door glass and one vent window [ This I may have but need to confirm.] , one rear seat cushion, one front seat cushion.
BMC production for Dropheads in '55 was 1,128 LHD. This car was made in Feburary.
XK140 DHC's are very hard to find in this "needing restoration condition".
