This car (the earliest surviving LHD 140?)featured in a letter written by the then owner, David Lonsdale,
in Jaguar Driver magazine May 1993.
He gave a very detailed list of unique features this car had which he discovered whilst carrying out a total rebuild. Also he stated that the cylinder head was not original as it had a number, B2518-8 stamped on it, was painted red (C Type?) and had twin 1 3/4 HD6 carbs.
He stated that it left the factory on 21st December 1954. Finally, he said that the 140 was originally to be marketed as the XK120 MkIV (Philip Porter also mentions this in his book "Original XK")

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
