Lot #111203
This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC Fixed Head Coupe is a non-running project that was acquired by its late owner in 1997 and was transferred to the owner’s estate following his passing in 2022. Equipment includes a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six, a three-speed automatic transmission, a wood-veneered dashboard, a dual exhaust system, Smiths instruments, twin SU carburetors, drum brakes, and 16″ wire-spoke wheels. This XK140 MC project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its late owner’s estate with spare and removed parts and a California title.
The body is finished in primer, and a grille, bumpers, assorted trim, and other pieces are included in the sale. Primer is bubbling on the trunk, and corrosion is noted at the bottom of the battery boxes and at the lower section of the right-side fresh intake vent.
Silver-painted 16″ knock-off wire wheels wear two-ear spinners and older Dunlop tires. The car is equipped with drum brakes at all four wheels.
The interior was removed under prior ownership, and photos showing the parts that remain with the car can be viewed in the gallery. Details include a wood-veneered dashboard, a locking glovebox, a push-button radio, and a floor-mounted parking brake.
Instrumentation includes a Smiths 140-mph speedometer, a matching reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. There are cracks in the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The seller states that the replacement 3.4-liter inline-six does not feature a C-type cylinder head. Equipment includes dual overhead camshafts, twin SU carburetors, and a dual exhaust system.
The car is equipped with a replacement Borg Warner DG250 three-speed automatic transmission.
Removed parts, including an automatic transmission with serial number 9221, are included in the sale. The seller notes that the windshield, one door panel, some interior wood trim, and some exterior trim pieces are missing along with the components for the seats except for one seat base.
The car is titled using its body number J6131.
The California title carries both duplicate and title-only notations. The car is being offered by the seller on behalf of an estate.
