This 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe was acquired by the seller in 2017 and is said to have been the recipient of a refurbishment performed under prior ownership between 2000 and 2006. It is finished in red over a beige and red leather interior, and power comes from a numbers-matching 3.4L DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include 16″ steel wheels, removable fender skirts, chrome bumpers, fender-mounted side mirrors, a wooden dashboard, and a heater. This XK140 FHC is now offered in Canada with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, manufacturer’s literature, and transferable Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
Delivered new in Pearl Grey, the car underwent a color-change repaint in its current shade of red during a refurbishment that spanned between 2000 and 2006. Brightwork includes the window trim, grille, fender-mounted side mirrors, exhaust finishers, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Rear fender skirts are pictured both on and off the vehicle.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 215/70 Hercules Tour 40 tires. A spare wheel and tire are housed under the trunk floor, and braking is provided by drums at all four corners.
The cabin features front and rear seats that have been reupholstered in beige and red leather with matching two-tone door panels and red carpeting. Holes and tears in the headliner are identified in the photo gallery below. Equipment includes a wooden dashboard, a heater, a lockable glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and sunshade visors.
A three-spoke wood-rimmed Les Leston steering wheel fronts center-mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level and amperage as well as a combination gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, and true mileage is unknown. Approximately 5k miles are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment in 2006 and 1,100 by the seller. The inset clock housed within the tachometer is inoperable.
The numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and twin SU carburetors and was factory rated at 190 horsepower. An oil and lube service was carried out most recently in 2018.
Cylinder-head stamping G3677-8 matches the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and the identification plate in the engine bay. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the vehicle was built on May 17, 1955 and was originally distributed by Oxford Motors of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. Serial numbers for various components are noted, and the car’s factory color scheme was Pearl Grey over blue.
