This car was delivered new to California and spent most of its life in the West. It left the works equipped with the desirable Special Equipment (MC) package including the high-performance C-Type cylinder head and Laycock de Normanville overdrive. After spending much of its life on the west coast the XK-140 was treated to a ground up nut-and-bolt restoration completed in the 1990s. Both the blue side curtains and the correct tool kit were restored and the car was detailed to JCNA Concours standards. Fitted with chrome wire wheels and auxiliary Lucas lamps this pale blue Jaguar is a truly beautiful car in a rarely-seen color. The cabin features beautiful dark blue leather with correct switchgear and instrumentation on the dash. Under bonnet detailing is excellent and the car features a period-correct 3.4-litre engine and C-Type head. The efforts of the previous owner and restorer were rewarded with a first prize at the Santa Barbara Concours d'Elegance followed by top prizes and a 99.7 point score at the JCNA Concours in Sacramento and a National Concours Class Championship award. As it now sits this XK-140 is ready to be shown or driven with a handsome character to the gently mellowed restoration. This beautifully restored XK 140 MC completed manufacture on 31 December 1954 and is finished in its factory color of Pastel Blue. The Blue soft-top and Dark Blue leather trim are also factory correct, with the only deviation from the original color configuration being gray piping on the interior rather than the factory-specified Light Blue. Dispatched on 24 January 1955 to Los Angeles, it came equipped from the factory with the desirable Special Equipment (MC) package, as confirmed by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate on file. While it does not retain its original engine, it is fitted with a period-correct 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine with C-Type cylinder head.
After spending much of its life on the West Coast, this XK 140 was treated to a ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration to concours standards in the 1990s, after which it reportedly garnered top awards at regional and national concours. The previous restoration now pleasantly mellowed, and boasting chrome wire wheels, Lucas auxiliary lamps, and potent 3.4-liter engine with C-Type cylinder head, this lovely Jaguar in a rarely seen color will provide much enjoyment driving on scenic roads and showing at concours.

Lot #202705
This 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster was sold new to a resident of Santa Rosa, California, and it was refurbished in the mid-1990s. Finished in Pastel Blue with a blue soft top over blue leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a C-Type cylinder head and a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit as well as 16″ wire wheels, driving lights, and adjustable seats. The selling dealer acquired the vehicle in 2023, and they state that it has received first place at the Santa Barbara Concours d’Elegance along with top prizes at Jaguar Clubs of North America events. This XK140 MC is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, a tool kit, and a clean Missouri title.
The roadster left the factory finished in Pastel Blue, and it was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a removable blue soft top, a split windshield, Lucas driving lights, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, a full-width chrome front bumper, and rear bumperettes. Noted scratches on the deck lid and wear at the rear corners of the soft top.
Chrome-finished 16″ wire wheels are mounted with 6.00V16 Avon Turbospeed Mk4 nylon tires, and a matching spare is stored under the trunk floor. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The adjustable seats have been retrimmed in blue leather. Interior appointments include blue carpeting, a cabin heater, a defroster, door-panel storage pockets, and a folding rear bulkhead. The cigarette lighter and the clock are inoperable.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The selling dealer notes that while functional, the water temperature gauge reads at a higher temperature than what is actually being emitted.
The 3.4-liter inline-six featured dual SU carburetors and a C-Type cylinder head from the factory for a rating of 210 horsepower.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville overdrive.
The car’s chassis number—S810609DN—is found on the frame, and that sequence is duplicated on the California-issued Replacement Identification Number tag.
The Production Record Trace certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust shows a build date of December 31, 1954, plus factory colors and identification numbers and delivery to California.
