Sellers description:
JAGUAR XK140
FIXED HEAD COUPE
MANUAL OVERDRIVE
RIGHT HAND DRIVE.
1957.
What an amazing opportunity to own a rare genuine right hand drive matching numbers XK140 fixed head coupe. It is fitted with a manual overdrive gearbox and has had a substantial restoration carried out approximately 14 years ago. Since then it has remained in dry storage with very little if any use since.

Here is a brief but honest description.

One can see not just from the photographic evidence, but from the car itself that it has undergone a complete stripdown. It appears that virtually everything was removed from the car and restored, repainted or renewed.
The bodywork which is finished in gunmetal grey although will not quite win any concourse awards, is finished to a very good standard and still looks very presentable with just the odd 1 or 2 imperfections. It appears to be very rot free with a very nice chassis, and its panel gaps are all excellent.

The interior has completely been rebuilt and retrimmed from the headlining right down to the carpets. It is very plush inside with its seats and panels retrimmed in red leather, new headlining, new carpets together with nice polish wood veneers. As you can see in the pictures it wants for nothing inside, there are even tailored over carpets.

All of the chrome work has been refinished, and there is quite a lot of it.

Mechanically it seems to be fine. After having come out of a long term storage we have drained the old fuel from its new fuel tank, fitted a new fuel pump together with some fresh petrol, fitted a new battery and cleaned the points etc and it now starts on the button instantly. I have no doubt that it will need a service and the odd adjustment here and there, but esentually everything seems to do what it should do. The engine itself sounds very nice with nothing untoward noticed, the clutch feels quite light compared to some, all of the gears engage fine, and the brakes seem to operate as well.

We do have a V5 of which will be replaced with the latest style once a new keeper is found. We also have several photos of the car in pieces during its restoration, and we also have a copy of the Heritage certificate.

Also comes with a clean bill of health in the form of an HPI printout.

To sum up this is fantastic opportunity to own a very nice and presentable RHD XK140 fhc, which has had all the money and hard work lavished on it, and now represents fantastic value for money, particularly looking around at current cars being advertised, of which most seem to be left hand drive. With very minimal effort mainly being the attention to fine detail, this car could be made into a really outstanding example and with interest rates at an all time low what a great time to invest in a piece of British motoring history which can surely only keep going up in value.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
