Car now offered at:

pendine.com/portfolio/1956-jaguar-xk140-se-fixed-head-coupe/

Seller's description:

A really super home market car that was fully rebuilt some years ago and remains in first class order. It looks stunning in a dark metallic green with complimentary green suede bucket seats, inertia reel belts and a 4-spoke Mota-Lita wheel. The interior is exemplary with lovely walnut veneer, superb carpets with over mats and a new West of England cloth headlining.

Sensibly upgraded with a C-type head, 2” SU’s, 6 branch manifold and a new 5-speed box by Guy Broad. It also sports servo assisted front disc brakes, Gaz dampers, a louvred bonnet with strap, Monza petrol cap, a chromed boot rack and Kenlowe fan. There is a full photographic record of the rebuild and a well-documented history file including a Heritage certificate, old blue and green logbooks, handbook and more.

Meticulously maintained by an engineer and drives accordingly.

Car now on ebay:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306086841651

Classified ad price £95,000, seller vandpcars, 1k miles reported

Seller's description:

1956 Jaguar XK1450 FHC RHD

Chassis Number: 804731

Registration Number: SAD725

Jaguar XK140 1956 FHC. Haggerty agreed value is £95,000.

This car has undergone a full bare chassis/body off restoration and has had a significant number of important upgrades undertaken.

These include front disc brakes; 5 speed gearbox; and a complete engine rebuild by Guy Broad up to full C-type spec with 9:1 pistons, since when it has done less than 1,000 miles and is immaculate. All this fully documented with bills & pictures. Needless to say the car is now transformed being both more driveable, far faster & able to stop as well as it goes. A kenlowe fan has been installed up front to take care of cooling in hot summer conditions.

There is a massive history and invoice file with the car as well as a full photographic record of the chassis restoration.

The car is finished in a tasteful shade of metallic green with the paint in good order. To the interior is lovely pale green leather to the sports bucket style seats along with high quality matching carpets. All woodwork has been removed & refinished & is of spectacularly figured burr walnut giving an opulent feel to the interior accomodations. A mota-Lita Steering wheel completes the ensemble. To the rear is a useful luggage rack giving ample touring capacity.

The car sits on 4 painted wire wheels with knock off hubs & new tyres all round. This car is well enough sorted to have contested the VSCC, Pomeroy Trophy, Silverstone, 16th February 2019 which speaks volumes to how the car is set up. Ideal for extensive touring & fast road use, the car will be equally at home on the track. This is a properly aset up car needing nothing doing to it at all.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
