This Jaguar XK140 fixed head coupe was manufactured on the 5th March 1956, first registered RWY 725. It had at least one owner in England before being exported to the USA and then arrived in New Zealand in 1994. 3.4 litre, RHD, 4-speed manual with Laycock de Normanville overdrive.

The car is very enjoyable to drive, as there have been a number of performance modifications made over the years including:
Four wheel Dunlop disc brakes, twin exhaust, 12-blade fan and cowl and two HD8 (2 inch) SU carburettors with pancake air filters.

It rides on 16 inch powder coated wire wheels and has two leather bucket seats and a 15 inch Moto Lita wooden rim steering wheel.

This is not a matching numbers car as the engine has been replaced at some time. Like most British classics, it leaks a small amount of oil, but compression and oil pressure are ok and it is mechanically sound throughout. Speedo in miles not kms.

Chrome work is all complete and in good condition for age. Straight bodywork, aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid, steel wings, roof, etc.

This is a reliable, road worthy car that is basically complete (missing windscreen washer bottle, a few tools, etc.), a rare classic car at an entry-level price.
Paintwork is average with some stone chips and surface bubbles and would benefit from a re-spray at some stage.

The original leather seats and steering wheel are included in the sale as is the Jaguar Heritage certificate.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
