In the early 1990s, this lovely Jaguar 120 was discovered in the San Francisco Bay Area, as a Robin’s Egg blue, well-maintained original example. Having been stored for 34 years, it was worthy of receiving a restoration of the highest quality. In 1997, the proprietor of Mike Tillson Motorcar Services undertook the two year restoration as his own personal project. The gleaming black finish complements the voluptuous lines of the fenders and roof, and highlights the body surfaces and panel alignment to show their near-perfect state. Similarly, the leather, wood and wool of the interior are finished to a level seldom seen on a restored production car.

The result of the restoration is spectacular and pays proper tribute not only to the inspired design of the XK120, but also to the immeasurable effect the model had on the sports car movement.

Upon completion, the car was chosen by the renowned automotive photographer Michael Furman to appear in his hardcover book Automobiles of the Chrome Age. His images capture the true identity of the XK, a sublimely elegant sports car, with every line so expertly placed as to give the effect of the metal being under tension.

Since completion of the restoration, the car has covered less than 1,000 miles and continues to present very well. In 1999, the car was judged at a JCNA national event where it achieved a nearly perfect 99.95 points, verifying the quality and accuracy of the exacting work. The single deduction was imposed for the presence of dust in the tool kit.

This outstanding Jaguar certainly has a place among the finest restored examples anywhere in the world and is deserving of your close inspection.

This is the finest XK120 on the planet and with a little prep will be a consistent class winner at any Concours! This XK120 Fixed Head Coupe comes to us from a automobile collection focused on being the BEST. The details are what separates the best from all other restored cars available. This XK was pulled out of a warehouse in the San Francisco area in the mid-90's, 100% original, where it had sat for over 34 years. Mike and Sue Tillson of West Chester, Pennsylvania had just won their class at the Amelia Island's Concours and were now looking to win at Pebble Beach. They purchased this car to win because the Jaguar was still wearing her original paint and interior and every nut, bolt, washer, hose clamp, etc. was also completely original to the car. Following a 2 year restoration and a few hundred thousand dollars, they discovered the class they wished to enter was no longer and their dream of competing at Pebble Beach with this exquisite car would not happen. The Tillson's did show her at a JCNA event and scored 99.95 out of 100 points then vanished for the better part of 10 years. We have been lucky enough to find this treasure, having traveled only a few hundred miles since being in a private collection and still wearing her California black plate. This is the finest XK120 on the planet and with a little prep will be a consistent class winner at any Concours!
