Buyer beware. Despite the flowery prose the photos hint at an unprofessional restoration by people who are unfamiliar with Jaguars. Example: crankcase breather cover is on backwards and missing corrugated vent tube. Sloppy boot wiring hanging haphazardly, and no sheet metal protective shroud on the gas tank filler line. If that's visible in the 1st minute of perusing the photos, imagine what's hidden deeper under that black paint!

Our 1953 left hand drive 120 fixed head coupe is a really superb example presented in triple black with outstanding black gloss paint complimented by black leather and carpets offset by superb mahogany wood dash and door caps. The view from the drivers seat is remarkable with the contrast of wood leather and a plethora of gauges before looking out over that long black louvered bonnet and wings with the red necel tipped tell tail lights atop the side lights. It is one of the all time great drivers seat vistas.

A matching numbers car with lots of sensible performance and reliability upgrades to give the achingly gorgeous fixed head coupe that go any where appeal. Its hard to argue against this 120FHC.

    Auction description:

25th Jun, 2025 The Millbrook Sale, Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire

1953 Jaguar XK120 SE Fixed Head Coupe

    Rare and desirable 'SE' example

    Estimate £40,000 - £50,000

    Registration No: 382 XVP

    Chassis No: 680679

    MOT: Exempt

A true matching numbers example with Jaguar Heritage Certificate to corroborate

Tasteful upgrades including bonnet louvres and disc brakes on the front axle

    Desirable and rare 'SE' specification

Finished in an excellent Black on Black colour combination

This matching numbers example (with Heritage Certificate to confirm) was imported from the USA by the current owner in 2021 after sourcing the car in Connecticut with the help of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. Being a Special Equipment model, the engine develops some 180 bhp as opposed to the standard 160 bhp. Finished in triple black, the car has been tastefully upgraded with front disc brakes and bonnet louvres and sits on original wire wheels as per SE specification. Much loved and regularly exercised by the vendor, it is said to drive beautifully with the original engine and gearbox still performing well. Considerable attention has been paid to make the car feel tighter and more responsive on the road along with suspension overhauls and tuning.
