Auction description:
Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction
17 - 18 August 2007
Lot 285
1954 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe
Sold for $99,000
Chassis no. 680389

The Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe pictured here finished in the traditional British Racing Green was treated to a complete ground up restoration. The engine was fully rebuilt by Predator Performance, where it was fitted with a Terry's Jaguar cylinder head and a stainless steel exhaust system. Additional mechanical work included rebuilding the front suspension and the installation of new brakes. The interior features beautifully refinished original wood trim, as well as a new headliner, carpets, and interior panels. The leather seat covers were replaced in 1995 and are in excellent condition, having seen little use. The vendor purchased the Jaguar in 1965 and has kept it in a temperature-controlled garage for his 42 years of ownership. Since completing its restoration, the XK 120 has consistently scored 99+ points at several of the Jaguar Club of North America's judged events.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
