This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a is a left-hand-drive fixed-head coupe that was built on September 10, 1952 and dispatched to New York-based importer Max Hoffman on the 17th of the same month. It received exterior and interior color changes as part of a refurbishment performed during previous ownership, and was purchased by the seller in December 2019. Subsequent work last year included overhauling the numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six and four-speed manual transmission along with the installation of a gear reduction starter and replacement of the fluids and tires. This XK120 is offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and transferable New York registration.

This XK120 was originally finished in silver according to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and it was repaint in the current shade of black during prior ownership. Features include chrome front bumpers, a split windshield, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome rear bumperettes.

The 16″ wheels, hub covers, and rear spats are finished to match the body. Coker Classic tires are mounted all around, and the car is equipped with four-wheel drum brakes.

The cabin was trimmed in red leather from the factory, and it was reupholstered with tan leather while under previous ownership. Matching carpets are fitted over an application of Dynamat sound insulation material, and burl wood accents the dashboard, door caps, and window trim. Additional features include a slide-out storage tray, lap belts for both occupants, and rear-mounted accent lights.

Centralized Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer as well as an ammeter and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just over 46k miles.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features twin side-draft SU carburetors and was rebuilt in March 2020 by Hampton Classics Motorcars of Speonk, New York, which included replacing the valves, guides, and gaskets. A gear reduction starter was installed, and the four-speed manual transmission was also rebuilt at that time with replacement synchros and seals.

Engine stamping W5931-8 is shown above and matches the number listed on the under-hood identification plate and the JDHT certificate.

The car is equipped with GAZ shocks and a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date in September 1952 and lists original colors, equipment, engine number, and distribution through Max Hoffman of New York.
