Lot #80858

This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head CoupĂ© is a non-running project that was acquired by the current owner’s spouse in 1962 and is said to have spent several decades in storage. The car has been partially refinished in white, and the red leather interior has been removed. A replacement twin-cam inline-six has been fitted to the existing four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes dual SU carburetors and 16” wire wheels. This XK120 project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a factory service manual, removed and spare parts, and a clean Maine title in the owner’s name.

The body has been partially refinished in white and shows signs of previous metalwork. The hood, rear fenders, and trunk lid have been removed along with the headlights, grille, side mirrors, and bumpers. Rust, dents, and areas of damage are shown in the gallery.

Red-finished 16” wire wheels are mounted with knock-off spinners and wear Coker Classic whitewall tires. A matching spare is stored in the trunk.

The cabin has been stripped of the seats, door panels, headliner, and most of the dashboard, leaving only the center-mounted instrument panel and red carpets. Removed red interior upholstery, wood trim, and hardware are shown in the gallery along with photos of the cabin floor.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

The replacement twin-cam inline-six is said to turn freely but is not currently in running order. The engine block stamping A97968 is consistent with an engine number for a Mark VII.

A four-speed manual transmission is linked to a live rear axle riding on a leaf spring suspension. Rust is visible on underbody components.

A partially assembled inline-six is included in the sale. The engine block stamping W5160-8, matches the number on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows the original configuration and colors along with serial numbers for the chassis, engine, body, and gearbox.

The Maine title notes that it is a warranty title for an antique vehicle.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
