Ebay item 10/13/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XK-XK-120-Fixed-Head-Coupe-1952-xk-120-fixed-head-coupe- ...
Current bid US $18,100 reserve not met 21 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1952 XK-120 Fixed Head Coupe. Vehicle was purchased in 1980 and underwent a frame up restoration. According to the previous owner, the motor was removed for freshening. The shop doing the engine work, burnt to the ground and the engine was lost. A vintage correct 3.4 liter engine was located, rebuilt and installed. The vehicle runs and drives nicely. The choke needs some attention, it is hard to start cold but once warmed up purrs like a kitten. The restoration is now 30 years old and the paint is showing its age. It was refinished in Lacquer and there are check marks in the paint in various locations.( See drivers side of car picture) The lead is starting to come to the surface around the turn signal housings on the driver side front and passenger side rear. An attempt to repair and blend the silver was done unsuccessfully. However from 10 or 20 feet away is hardly noticed in certain light. Seats are leather and still soft. All wood has been re veneered and is beautiful accept on the very top of dash there is some separation. Vehicle was in heated garage since 1980. Also was driven on occasional basis throughout this time period. Vehicle was originally a disc wheel car, converted to wires. A wire wheel will not fit in the designated spare tire well, yes this is a small fly in the ointment but the wire wheels really make the car. With just a little bit of TLC and fresh paint you could have one of the rarest and most beautiful Jaguars ever produced! Don't pass it up, you may never find another. I am listing this vehicle for a friend of mine, the above description is from him. I will assist anyway I can.

This 1952 Jaguar XK120 coupe is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and wears older silver paint over blue leather upholstery. The car was originally sent through Max Hoffman in New York, and was acquired by an Oregon collector in 2013. The fuel tank, sending unit, and lines were replaced, the twin SU carburetors cleaned, and an oil change performed in preparation for the sale. This XK120 is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Oregon title.

Originally pale blue, the car now wears an older repaint in silver that the selling dealer reports is thinning throughout. Detail include tri-bar headlamps as well as split chrome front bumpers and rear bumperettes. Close-up photos of the trim and finish are provided in the gallery below, and the seller notes that rear wheel spats are note included.

Silver-painted knock-off wire wheels are mounted with tubed 185-S16 Pirelli tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.

The two-place cabin is upholstered in blue leather with matching door panels and carpets as well as a burl wood dash, door caps, and window frames. Amenities include roll-down windows, a glovebox, and tinted plexiglass sun visors.

A four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a combination oil and fuel level gauge, and a five-digit odometer indicating 12k miles. Total mileage is unknown and the seller notes that the tachometer is not functional.

The replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features an iron block with an aluminum cylinder head and is fed by twin SU carburetors that were cleaned in preparation for sale. The selling dealer also replaced the fuel tank, sending unit, and lines in addition to performing an oil change.

Additional photos are provided in the gallery to show the floors, suspension components, and mixed blue and silver underbody surfaces.

The September 2020 Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows the original colors, driveline numbers, and distributor.

The engine W8711-8s is not original.
What year and chassis would it have come from?

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
