This 1953 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive Drophead Coupe that was completed on September 9, 1953 and dispatched on December 14 from the factory to New York distributor Max Hoffman. The car was reportedly sold new in Florida, and is said to have undergone a five-year refurbishment in the US prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2018. The work reportedly included refinishing the body, powder-coating the frame, new tobacco interior upholstery, reconditioned wood trim, a replacement brown convertible top, and more. Power is from a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, and equipment includes a set of chrome wire wheels. This XK120 DHC is offered in Linköping, Sweden with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment invoices, and Swedish registration.
The car was originally finished in black and has since undergone a color change to pale yellow. New paint was reportedly applied during the refurbishment under previous ownership. Chrome wire wheels wear period-style Garfield tires, and a painted spare resides below the trunk. Braking is managed by four-wheel hydraulic drums.
The interior is trimmed in tobacco upholstery over matching carpets and features lap belts for both driver and passenger. The burl wood on the dashboard, door caps, and windshield surround has been refinished.
The cabin also features a factory steering wheel and Smiths gauges, including a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer. Approximately 55k miles are indicated on the five-digit odometer, 350 of which were added under current ownership.
The twin-cam 3.4L inline-six, four-speed manual gearbox, and rear end are said to have been overhauled during the refurbishment. Cylinder head stamping W9725-8 is shown in the gallery and matches the engine number on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
The frame was reportedly sandblasted and powder-coated, and additional photos show the condition of the plywood floorboards. A stainless steel exhaust system has also been fitted.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the build date and original configuration of black over a red interior.
A US state-assigned VIN (NCS91484) was issued by North Carolina under previous ownership, and the car is currently registered with this number in Sweden.

This Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe is built in 1953 and was delivered new in Florida, America. The numbers on the existing Heritage certificate correspond to the original type plate that is present in the engine compartment.
The body number on this plate corresponds to the body number plate and the engine number in the cylinder head and in the lower block corresponds to the type plate.
The car was partially restored in 2012 and is in good running condition. Shifting is smooth, the engine picks up well and the brakes work properly. The car was recently technically checked.
There are points that can be improved, points of attention, for example the paintwork has traces of use and could benefit from a good polishing and the car needs some welding on the underside.
The interior and soft top have already been completely updated.
There is a history file with the Jaguar with invoices and information about the restoration.
