Offered here is an opportunity for one to choose which configuration of XK one would like. The choices are more varied than one initially would think. Do you go for a fixed head coupe, a drop head coupe more or the racier roadster. One could even choose the ultimate a aluminium roadster; the chassis and age of the engine would certainly suit it. Or maybe a basis of a C-type replica clothed in all new aluminium body.

This rolling, driving chassis is built around a new chassis unit, which has been shot-blasted and painted. Up front is a fully rebuilt 1951 3.4 litre, left-hand drive XK engine with matching head and block. Both engine and gearbox are said to have been fully rebuilt, the engine by Chestmans, the gearbox by Geoff Holman. The period-style bucket seats are finished in good quality leather and constructed by Mike Thomas and the aluminium fuel tank was built by racing legend, Aubrey Finberg.

The vehicle sits a set of steel wire wheels shod Avon Turbo-Speed tyres .

As with many restored classics, it would be impossible to recreate this rolling, running chassis at the figure the vendor has requested we set the reserve. In any language, this lot represents excellent value and saves the new owner months or even years of work.
Guide Price: £22000 to £26000

This has a totally new chassis so it is not really the number it claims to be but, a no doubt, excellent replica

Picky picky. Guess in 'Anonymous' eyes then there are a few thousand "replica" Land Rovers, a few hundred "replica MGBs, TR6s, not to mention Bugatti, Bentley ...... and so on.
Of course not, The chassis is just another component, one of many that make up a car. Yes, as a means of identifying the vehicle the chassis is often stamped with a number ....... To 'identify' the car (a combination of many components).
Why do people get their nickers in a twist over a replacement chassis ? Or is it jealousy .... Possibly because the 'replacement chassis' will make for a better car, not rusting from the inside, better protected etc ?
Oops .. Almost fell off the soap box !

With the chassis replaced, you do not get a timeperiod title here in the NL, it will be registers as new ( this counts for every replica here, even if most of the parts are from a original classic. Only the chassis counts! )
To get a title on a NEW chassis, you first need to pay 40.000 euro's CO2 tax!! Bottom line is, you almost never see any replica car over here.

I looked at 3 Bugattis for sale in the Netherlands last year, with different vendors, all on the same day. All 3 were replicas, one chassis made in the south of France, the other 2 made in Argentina. They were all titled in the Netherlands as 1924, 1926 and 1928 vehicles. I guess 'Replicas' are not commonly known to the authorities, and perhaps the general public.

The vendor states that this XK120 was bought as a restoration project from a Jaguar Spares Day in 2012. It is now part restored to chassis level and is running and driving with all suspension bushes replaced and chassis /suspension stove enamelled.

It is ready now to be taken forward to the next level with a restoration of the body. The engine is very sweet with excellent oil pressure hot and cold, the gearbox has also been rebuilt so synchros are not a problem. There is a new prop shaft, and all the universal joints and everything else restored to very nice condition.

This is a nice project which will short circuit the large job of a complete restoration.
Guide Price: £24000 to £25500

Where are the new chassis being made? May not be original but the joy is driving.
