Ebay item 10/3/20
www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Jaguar-XK-ONE-OWNER-1953-JAGUAR-XK120-DROP-HEAD-COUPE/4024 ...
Current bid Current bid: $10,099 reserve not met
5 bids, 9 days left in auction seller dusty356a, 43k miles.

Seller's description:
"Survivor" 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop-head Coupe: One owner since new; stored undriven since 1969; 43,332 original documented original miles; all original sales documents; original 1953 California registration; unmolested pristine original interior; not cleaned or started in 51 years. We purchased this car exactly as you see it, as it was preserved inside a Los Altos, CA, garage since 1969. This is the most complete and solid original xk120 we could ever imagine to find. Every single part and document is here, pristine original tools and handpump, hand-noted bags of extra parts; too many things to list. Owned by a Silicon Valley executive/engineer since he purchased it new in Los Angles. Titled in the same name as original registration. As clean as this car looks, we did not clean it or vacuum it, it was simply covered in a perfect-climate controlled garage since new. The original carpet is not frayed, the tires from the 1960's show no age or cracking. This one needs to be seen to be believed. Heritage Certificate included.

Car now offered at:

www.jenden.eu/classic-cars/jaguar-xk120-drop-head-coupe-1953_578

Car now in the Netherlands, previously Pleasanton, California

Seller's description:

Offered is a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe, an original California USA delivered car, with an enormous amount of history accompanying the car.

The car still has the original purchase contract from 1953 and the so-called California Blackplate!

The story of this beautiful English classic; this car was delivered new in 1953 to Mr. S. a pilot and witness this tasteful purchase a car enthusiast.

The car remained in the family until a few years ago.

The car was originally delivered in the color Suede green, but after a few years it was changed from color to the more popular British Racing Green by the first owner. The original upholstery and the original soft top are still present! As well as the hood cover and the tonneau cover. A very original looking classic car, with the right patina which gives this car its charm and character.

In the cockpit of the car, a number of non-original meters catch the eye, did we already tell you that the first owner was a pilot?

The car is technically in a good condition, the engine runs superbly and gives that specific Jaguar growl when accelerating. Civilized, but… still present.

Driving a British classic is a party in itself, what a wonderful car.

This car came to the Netherlands in 2020, the current owner has now decided to let someone else enjoy this car to have more time free for his other cars and hobbies.

As mentioned, an opportunity like this only arises a few times.

Take your chance and allow yourself to enjoy this icon of automotive history.

Car now offered at:

classiccars.com//listings/view/1722253/1953-jaguar-xk120-for-sale-in-naarden-reg ...

Seller's description:

This is not just an original XK 120 DHC, this is a timecapsule in a museum condition. With all the history from new. Includes the original signed sales order, sales invoice, correspondence, and heritage certificate. Bought new by Roger Severns from Corona CA, after trading in his Pontiac convertible. The current owner bought the XK from the family of the 1st owner from California. PROBABLY THE MOST ORIGINAL XK IN THE WORLD.

When you meet this XK in real life you go back in time; everything is 1953. The exterior is also original and rust-free. Mr Severns ordered the Jaguar in "suede green" and after delivery he found the colour a bit disappointing. After about 1 year he had his XK repainted in the most beautiful color for a classic Jaguar: "British racing green" and the paint looks very good, although the paint is almost 70 years old... The original fabric hood in French Grey is strikingly beautiful with only a slight discoloration. The hood closes tightly and the brackets are like new.

This Jaguar is ordered new with steel "disc wheels" with spats at the rear to improve the streamline. This combination has become very rare because most XKs have been converted to wire wheels. The rims and spats are also rust and damage-free and the diagonal tires are 51 years old. An XK has a boot lid with a wooden chassis beam as standard and this beam is completely untouched. The bootlid closes also perfect.

Thanks to all the letters and certificates from the department of motor vehicles, we know that Mr. Severns drove the Jaguar until 1969. He then parked the XK on axle supports in a well-ventilated room in Los Altos. The mileage of 43,845 miles is therefore original and very plausible. In October 2020, XK 120 was discovered and brought to life. Then a major service was carried out and everything was checked. This Jaguar is probably the best preserved and most original XK for sale that you can just drive. Indeed, the car even drives excellently and does NOT need a restoration. Start cold and hot immediately and an electric fan has been mounted to be sure. The iconic 6 cylinder runs silky smooth and still has the original cylinder head and SU carb's. You can see and feel from everything that the car has been maniacally taken care of and then bone dry stored with great care.

The interior is also completely original and in absolute top condition. The leather upholstery has never been renewed and is therefore 70 years old! The carpeting, the back of the seats and the storage space also look almost like new. The woodwork on the doors is whole and not dried out. The dashboard is completely whole. The original Jaguar radio does not work, but is completely complete including the tube amplifier behind the seats. Such a car radio was very special in 1953 and the additional cost was $ 90.- Mr Severns was an engineer and pilot, and therefore a lover of as many instruments as possible in the cockpit. That is why he had a beautiful classic altimeter, a vacuum meter and oil temperature meter built in. A beautiful detail is also the compass above the interior mirror.

The originality is endless with the car comes also the tonneau cover and hood cover with which the XK was delivered new. And in the trunk is the original spare wheel with jack, tire pump and all the tools in the roller cover. Including the 12V running light and the tire pressure meter. The upholstery in the boot is also original. But it goes even further; In the storage space behind the seats is an original fire extinguisher from 1953, with an inspection card that has been filled in until 1963. Truly an incredible time capsule.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
