M.O.T JUNE 2005
Built in 1954, the final year of XK120 production, this matching numbers lefthand drive sports on wires was a standard export OTS model delivered to the United States. It is believed to have had only two owners from new until recent years, when it was purchased and run by a Pennsylvanian Jaguar enthusiast who sold it to the present British owner.
During the second US ownership, cosmetic refurbishment included respray in black and retrim, the latter in red vinyl as was so often the case in the US in period. A return to leather could be easily made, however, simply by fitting buckets with the bonus of also increasing legroom.
Since repatriation, sympathetic refurbishment by a marque specialist has included front suspension polybushing, braking system overhaul with reconditioned master cylinder, new shoes and reskimmed drums. Chassis, running gear and all correct and still original 3.4-litre engine were all found to be in excellent condition, being original, unmolested and non-rusty. The XK six is said to pull well and shows good oil pressure even when hot. The batteries have been renewed and the exhaust is a period Abarth system.
Throughout the summer, the vehicle is said to have run extremely well and, whether left in current slightly `aged' state or given a respray in a colour of choice to eliminate some only minor exercise scars, a new owner here today will be taking on a lovely original old XK requiring little additional work.
