This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster is a left-hand-drive example that is finished in black over a red leather interior. Power is provided by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six, which was sourced from an XK150 and is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The car was acquired by the seller and brought to Texas three years ago, after reportedly spending time on the East Coast with a longterm previous owner. Maintenance four months ago included changing the oil and other fluids. This XK120 is now offered with service records dating back to the 1960s, manuals, a top and side curtains, a tonneau cover, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in black, a color change from its original shade of cream that was completed at some point during previous ownership. Cracking is noted in an area of the finish next to the windshield frame. Exterior equipment includes bumper-mounted driving lights, stone guards on the headlights, and a sideview mirror affixed to the windshield pillar.
Painted steel wheels wear color-matched covers and polished beauty rings, as well as Goodyear Eagle tires. Spats are in place at rear, as was standard on XK120s with solid wheels. The black top and side curtains have not been used by the seller and are said to be in need of restoration. A new tonneau cover is included.
The seats are trimmed in red leather and complemented by matching door panels and carpets. New red floor mats are said to have been fitted and are protected by rubber mats. Various areas of wear can be seen on the seating surfaces.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, 300 of which have been added by the seller.
The 3.4-liter inline-six was sourced from an XK150 and was rebuilt and installed during previous ownership. Number V7109-8 is shown stamped on the cylinder head in the photo gallery below, corresponding with a standard XK150 3.4-liter engine. The oil filter has been converted to a spin-on configuration, and maintenance performed four months ago included changing the oil and other fluids. According to the seller, oil drips are observable.
Shifting is through a four-speed manual gearbox. Hydraulic drum brakes are equipped all around, with independent torsion bar suspension up front and leaf springs out back.
