I bought the car in 1981 from a friend who had owned it from 1958. It was cosmetically restored in mid 1980s.

Ebay item 6/24/11 www.cooperclassiccars.com
Sellers description:
This 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster is gorgeous in White with a Biscuit interior White Spats (Fender Skirts), and a new Biscuit colored top. It is a two owner car that was delivered new to California and still wears its California black plate. The previous owner owned and loved the car for over thirty years. It is a matching numbers car, as verified by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Extensive receipts document maintenence going back to 1959, showing that the car has been well cared for. The car wears an older restoration that has held up well. The interior is in excellent condition and the paint and wheels have a nice light nice patina that give the car a great deal of charm. The car has been driven less than 2000 miles since the previous owner bought it in 1982. Mechanically the car is also in great condition- the engine is one of the strongest we have driven. This is an excellent opportunity to own perhaps the most beautiful classic jaguar in a very desirable and striking color combination.

Engine Number: W7987-8

Year of Manufacture: 1953

This 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster was first despatched to the Chas. Hornburg Jaguar dealership, Los Angeles on 2nd April 1953. It has had a total of three owners, sits on steel wheels with spats and still wears its California 'black plate'.
A Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms that the 3.4 engine is matching numbers and that the car is an original left-hand drive example. Extensive receipts document maintenance going back to 1959, with period invoices and letters between previous owners. This example was the subject of an older restoration that has stood the test of time. There is no evidence of corrosion and the paintwork, chrome and interior are all in good condition. The engine maintains a healthy oil pressure and significant torque is delivered with ease. The previous owner only covered 2,000 miles in the car since 1982 and this would explain why the car remains in such fine overall condition.
All EU taxes and duties have been paid and there are recent bills for recent works carried out in February 2013. A recent tonneau cover, side screens and wet weather gear can be found in the boot.
This is a genuine three-owner California car and has one of the most extensive history files we have ever seen on an XK Jaguar. Finished in the fashionable colour combination of white with tan leather interior, there are very few cars that can boast such an extensive and privileged history as chassis number 673820.

pendine.co/portfolio/1953-jaguar-xk120-ots/
Sellers description:
This lovely ex-California car is a timely reminder of how elegant 120s look on disc wheels with spats. It's a matching numbers, Left Hand Drive car in standard factory specification with biscuit upholstery and matching weather equipment including sidescreens. Standard 120s are becoming increasingly rare, and this one really is a lovely example. Recently serviced and driving as Sir William intended, this XK has a good history file with paperwork going back to 1958. The unmolested, early 120 is a true automotive design icon and this example would be as happy in the paddock at Goodwood as it would be on a glamorous Continental event.
