Car to be at auction 7/14

Catalog:
issuu.com/artcurialbpt/docs/2535
Auction description:
French title Engine n° W7760-8 - Well preserved older restoration - Regularly maintained - Stunning styling, outstanding engineering With its "Old English White" coachwork, lightly patinated red leather upholstery and red carpets, this Jaguar XK120, that left the factory on 3 March 1953 to be delivered new to the US, offers the timeless appeal of a great classic. The old restoration has been preserved along with the original engine for good reason. The list of work documented in the file includes the fitting of a stainless steel exhaust by British Motors in 1966, an overhaul of the brakes, replacement of the seals in the exhaust manifold, an overhaul of the ignition in 2000 by SPR. Two small aero screens were installed in place of the original windscreen, but this could easily be reversed. This XK120 roadster comes with a tonneau cover and a full made-to-measure cover. The odometer records 48,969 miles and a test-run revealed a car that was enjoyable to drive. Having not been used regularly in recent years, the car is being sold without technical inspection (MOT) and will need a service before being put back on the road. In addition to its seductive, streamlined styling, this XK120 also has its original 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine that is capable of close to 200km/h.

In 1953 the car was delivered to the USA. In June 1991 it was acquired by Robert Brochard from Villiers le Bel in France. The milage in 1991 was (only) 14.302 mls. In June 2015 the car was acquired by Gerhard Pegam at the Artcurial Auction in Le Mans. The milage was 48.969 mls. The brakes had to be overhauled as the car has not been used much since 2002 (the recorded milage on 20.9.2002 was 46.235 mls)

I bought the car at the Artcurial auction in June 2014. Did 2.000 mls since then. The car is a great driver. Besides overhauling the brakes we had no issues at all (so far). Hope it stays like this ;-)
