Sellers description:
Very nice running and driving 1953 Jaguar XK-120 OTS. First time on the market after 25 years of ownership. It has a rebuilt 3.8 ltr engine that runs strong and idles perfectly. The custom stainless steel dual exhaust sounds out of this world as you snick through the gears. Everyone in the neighborhood knows when it is out of the garage and they comment on how well it sounds. Even the non-car enthusiasts! The car includes a 3.4 ltr Jaguar engine also that is supposedly original to the car. I am checking on the serial numbers to see if it is the correct numbered one to the car but it is in storage a hour away so I will confirm the info and update the listing this week. This is an early XK-120 with the early dashboard design and seperate, chromed, fender lights. Very reliable. Recent sevice includes radiator boiling and all new coolant hoses, rebuilt front brakes and fluid fluid flush and new batteries. Electrical system has a new harness and functions correctly. Options on the car include wire wheels and a bent shift lever. Interior restored in proper leather. The car is missing the following components: heater, horns, tonneau cover snaps, trunk light switch, turn signals (wiring included but small screws that attach harness to steering column switch missing). The car does have the top irons and a used top. The paint looks good but has aged 25 years and has numerous scratches and chips. I am selling this for the owner and I am the technician who performed all the service work on the car.

This 1953 Jaguar XK120 roadster is finished in red over tan leather and has been fitted with a 3.8-liter inline-six from a Mark IX. Features include a four-speed manual transmission, split front bumper, rear bumperettes, fender-mounted mirrors, dual SU carburetors, and 16” wire wheels. The car was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership in the 1990s and was acquired by the owner in 1994. It is now offered by the seller on the owner’s behalf with a reproduction operating manual, the removed factory engine, a soft top, assorted spare parts, and a clean Michigan title in the owner’s name.
The bodywork has been refinished in red and the frame repainted in black. The work was reportedly carried out during the 1990s refurbishment. Features include a chrome split front bumper, fender-mounted mirrors, side vent doors, rear bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets. The tonneau cover snaps are missing, and the seller notes the presence of body filler as well as ripples in the trunk pan and finish flaws that include paint chips, nicks, and scratches. A convertible top frame and black fabric cover are included in the sale though the seller notes that the fabric is in need of replacement.
Painted 16″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knockoffs and mounted with Avon Turbospeed Mk4 tires. A matching spare is stowed under a shelf in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes that the tires should be replaced due to age.
The cockpit features tan leather bucket seats along with matching door panels, door pulls, carpeting, and trim rails. Features include a padded center armrest, a chrome passenger-side grab handle, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and map pockets in both doors.
Centrally situated instrumentation includes a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm Smiths tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 140-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, and a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, and true mileage is unknown. There are cracks in the upper steering column cover.
The original engine was removed and replaced with a 3.8-liter inline-six sourced from a Mark IX. It is equipped with dual SU carburetors and a smaller starting carburetor in addition to an aftermarket exhaust system.
The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, and the seller notes a shudder when engaging first gear. Corrosion is present on underbody components.
The car is titled by its original engine number–W5888-8–which is stamped on the chassis tag. The removed engine is included in the sale, and a photo of its cylinder head stamping can be viewed in the gallery.
