Car to be at Coy's auction 6/06
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php
Auction description:
Fine Motor Cars & The Jaguar Legend Saturday 24th June 2006
Lot 244
1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Registration no: XFU 870
Chassis no: 672800
Estimate: £36,500-42,000
Originally bought by the current owner in February 1988 from the USA and imported back to the UK, it was then the subject of thorough body off restoration culminating in 1996 with a respray back to the original British Racing Green. Southern Classics undertook this comprehensive rebuild supplying bills detailing works adding up to a figure in excess of £51,000. There is no doubt that this certainly an excellent example; the exhaust note bouncing off the gladed country lanes was enough to tell me that the engine was in rude health. Supplied with an extensive file of bills, a Heritage Certificate, import documents showing all taxes paid as well as a set of photographs taken during the restoration. This groundbreaking car when new is probably as good now as it ever was. A thoroughly rewarding drive with full documented backup.

Most recently the car has been maintained and serviced by legendary British specialist – Chris Keith-Lucas.

Presently showing as Lot 640 at the July 2009 auction under link:
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php
at an estimate of £58,000 - £65,000
Perhaps it didn't sell previuosly as it keeps on coming back. I like the touch of the exhaust bouncing off gladed country lanes which as the same wording used in June 2006, again by Coys.
P.S. The first comment above is by Geoff Uren ..... I remember that name from the 60's, associated with Ford Zephyrs or Cortinas, I think???????

Seller's description:
Classic Showcase, Inc.

VIN # 672800
Exterior British Racing Green

Interior Tan
Condition Good
This stylish British Racing green over Tan XK-120 roadster is a well-preserved driver level example with a documented limited history of ownership, a gorgeous color combination, and exudes the pure beauty and elegance that is most often associated with Jaguar's XK-120 models. This particular example has belonged to a Southern California collector who has taken great car of the car, keeping it routinely serviced. It presents clean throughout, and also features beautiful driving lamps up front that compliment its unique styling; the roadster has also been upgraded with a modern alternator negative ground conversion for improved charging.
While the car stands in a fine driver level condition, it would make an excellent candidate to be taken to a complete show-level standard of perfection with a Classic Showcase restoration. Regardless of use, this XK-120 is sure to provide its next owner with the pristine driving experience that Sir William Lyons had in mind over 60 years ago!
